High School
Graduation Plan:
Do you have a copy of your student’s Individualized Graduation Plan (IGP)? If not, ask your HST for it! It’s a great resource for understanding your student’s path to graduation.
Reminder:
Our high school student should be enrolled in a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 40 credits each semester. Your student will need special approval to take more than 40 credits. Keep in mind that a student should take an average of 25 credits to graduate with the 200 credits needed.
Academic Integrity:
Academic Integrity is the moral code or ethical policy of academia. This includes values such as avoidance of cheating or plagiarism; maintenance of academic standards; honesty and rigor in academic work. This is a great resource for reviewing what plagiarism is with your student.
Homeschooling Advice
Answers for Procrastination in Your Homeschool
"We’ve all been there. A deadline approaches, yet there's no motivation to get the project done. The laundry piles up... until there's nothing clean to wear. Faced with a long to-do list, we feel the urgent need to paint, take a nap, or do anything but the things we need to do.
Procrastination is a human phenomenon which happens to everyone at some point, even our children. When it rears its head, it’s best to figure out the underlying cause and find solutions for it, rather than simply trudging through the work. There are three primary reasons for procrastination:
A task does not seem meaningful.
A task is unstructured.
A task seems too difficult.
When Homeschooling Is Not Meaningful
At times, our homeschool lessons cover topics our children need to know, but they don't consider meaningful to their lives. An example that comes to mind is algebra. Many children feel this branch of math isn’t relevant to their lives.
“I’ll never use this in real life,” they may argue.
At times like these, we are wise to empower them to figure out ways to make the work more meaningful to them, even if they don’t yet see the value in the content."

English Learners
EL Coordinator 2020/21- My name is Jennifer Carrete and I will be the EL Coordinator for Cabrillo Point Academy for the 20/21 school year. I have a Master’s Degree in Teaching Speakers of Other Languages, and have worked in charter schools for 20 years in a range of positions including EL teacher and Coordinator. I look forward to getting to know you and supporting your child with English acquisition. It is such a gift to be multi-lingual! As we progress through the school year I will be reaching out to all of you about joining our English Learner Advisory Committee. I hope you will consider joining me in building a community of English Learner parents that will be a voice in how our school can best serve and support our students.
19/20 LPAC Scores are available under testing on your Parent Portal! If your student was unable to complete the test due to COVID school closure, there will be an opportunity to complete the ELPAC this fall.
Initial ELPAC- Your HST will be contacting you about administering the Initial ELPAC if your child is new to the school system and could potentially qualify for EL services. At this time, the Initial ELPAC will be administered virtually.
Reclassification- If your child has an overall score of at least 4 on the ELPAC test, he/she could be considered for Reclassification and exited out of the EL program. Your HST will contact you with more details within the next 2 weeks if your child is eligible for reclassification.
ELD Instruction If your child is classified as EL, they are required to participate in 30 minutes of ELD (English Language Development) instruction everyday. Brainpop EL is available for free to all of our EL students. Contact your HST for more information on how to enroll your child.
Curriculum Recommendations for our EL Students -
Reading Eggs & Eggspress PreK - 8th Grade
Wonders 2nd - 6th grade
Study Sync 6th - 12th grade
BrainPOP ELL - K-12th grade
ELD Instruction for High School Elective Credit- Your child can now receive high school elective credit for the following ELD support classes. See here for courses and class descriptions.
Enrichment
Do you have enrichment or tech orders that were entered by the last day of school in the Spring, but that weren’t processed by July 1st? Please rest assured that we are working on a solution that will allow the EOS to automatically deduct order totals from the correct school year. Please stay tuned, as more information is coming!
Due to COVID, BookShark orders are typically being processed by the vendor within 10 - 12 days after orders are processed in the EOS.
Please note that Timberdoodle Kindergarten curriculum kits are currently on backorder.
Our payment method was recently updated to credit card for Amazon. When you submit orders for this vendor, you will be prompted to select the school credit card that’s on file (the full card number is not viewable by anyone). Please feel free to select that payment method . . . HSTs will still need to approve all orders, and they will still need to be processed by Enrichment staff.
As a reminder, no in person services can be paid for at this time (even if enrichment certificates were previously issued).
If virtual services are being requested, please be sure to write “virtual” or “online” within each order. This will help ensure that orders are processed as quickly as possible!
