The HillTop Times December 2023
"We Believe...Success for ALL!"
From Principal Adams
We are in the last few weeks of the first semester, and we are in high gear to finish strong. Exciting things have happened on The Hill. We've engaged in renovating our outside classroom with the help of students, honored our Veterans with a parade, were represented at the SC State House for their annual caroling event, hosted our first Grandparents Game Day, and appeared on a news segment on WLTX highlighting Milo, our RoboKind robot, that helps with social-emotional instruction. We look forward to celebrating our 12 Days of Christmas to bring lots of excitement in the air as December will be busy. Our Eagles in grades 2-5 will participate in the Mastery View Predictive Assessment to demonstrate their mastery of skills learned and give teachers an objective look at skills that need to be remediated/extended. To help our Eagles be successful, please ensure they get adequate rest nightly, arrive to school on time, and are encouraged by you to do their personal best.
In looking ahead, students will begin their science projects for this school year. Although there will not be a district science fair, we will have a school science fair in January. Students in Preschool-2nd grade will create a class project; only one project will be submitted for the entire class. Students in 3rd-5th grades will create their project individually, with a partner, or in a group of no more than 3 peers. More information will be sent through your child's teacher.
It is my wish for each of you that this holiday season is a safe and enjoyable one. As you may (or may not) set resolutions for the new year, this is a great opportunity to set goals with your child about all they hope to accomplish in the second semester. We will also be setting goals with students. As always, I can be contacted at the school if there are questions, concerns, feedback, or ideas to help our Eagles continue soaring.
