NORTH BAND NOTES

November 16-20, 2015 - Post All-Region Success!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WHO AUDITIONED!!!

It was a terrific day for the North Viking Band! Students from Symphonic 1, 2, and Concert Band auditioned against about 1300 of the top band students from across the region. We had 35 students earn spots in one of the four All-Region Bands. That's a very high number, but most of all, we are so proud of everyone for committing to the process and going through with the audition. You not only demonstrated your musicianship, but it takes confidence and character to go out there and show your work in front of a panel of strangers and in front of your peers. You definitely represented North and the Viking Virtues supremely well yesterday!

SO I MADE ALL-REGION...NOW WHAT?

First of all, congratulations again! Watch your mailbox (like the one at your house) because I'll be sending out all of the details that you need via mail. This is because the details for each of the four All-Region Bands are a bit different. All who made a band will rehearse and perform on January 8 and 9 in Forney.

You will also receive a folder of music tomorrow. That music should be marked and learned in advance so that you get the most from your All-Region experience. Inside that folder, you'll also find a schedule for the clinic and concert weekend.

STUDENT SHOUT-OUTS!

NON-TRADITIONAL PERFORMANCES...

Performance anxiety is a very normal thing. We try really hard to help the students realize how they will perform under pressure by putting them in some impromptu performance situations! Our North family was very kind as we roamed the halls this week searching for teachers to play for. Some even had requests and visited the Band Hall! Shown below are just a few of those special performances.

LET'S HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

We are looking forward to another amazing week! Thank you for all you do and we'll see you tomorrow!
