How Are You?
Connect Time with Online Teacher
Homework Help or Tutor.com
Keep in mind the tutor will not have access to your course and will ask you to provide specific questions and details. They are there to help, but will not give the answers or provide support for tests and quizzes.
Classmate Support or "Peer Help"
"Peer Help" is turned on in your courses. Peer Help allows you to see who has completed an activity and might be able to offer help. This support document will provide you with an overview of what that looks like in your course and how if functions.
How do you reach out to those classmates? Often in your online courses there is a general discussion forum to help you get to know your classmates or peers. This is a great place for learners to share their contact information.
Keep in mind that this is about support and not doing the work for someone. So, if you have any questions or concerns about collaborating with a peer and the amount or type of work you or they are doing, you can clarify that with your teacher to make sure it is appropriate.
Please be understanding if your classmates are not able to help you at this time - we all have a lot on our plates! You can always reach out to another peer or your teacher with your questions about the activity.
Coach Support
Do not wait until the end of the course to say this has not worked since ______ .... let them know right away They can't support and help unless they are aware.
Your coaches are also the ones who can answer questions about which courses you can/should take, how long you will be enrolled in a course, and how the grade and credit is awarded, etc.
If you do not know who your coach is reach out to wvshelpdesk@cesa9.org and we would be happy to provide you with that contact information.
Grades and What If Calculator
Your progress reports show a "Work In Grade" for all the items you submitted to date and have been graded. The reports also include a "Final Grade," which factors in zeros for all work not completed/attempted.
From your Grades page in Buzz, you can click on the "What If" tab. On this screen, you can put in scores to calculate possible grade outcomes for past due assignments or ones you have not completed. Then, click Re-calculate at the top. This support document walks you through how to use that feature.
Student Orientation Course
If you feel you would benefit from having access longer, you can ask your Coach to reach out to our office so we can assist in making that happen.
Taking Time Off and Adjusting Your Due Dates
- Work ahead and get them done early or;
- schedule some extra time to catch up upon your return or;
- set "Blockout Dates" so the system does not assign items on dates you plan to be offline. Once set it will change the target due dates you see on your grade page.
Finish Strong
We want all learners to have a strong finish in your online course(s). Keeping Academic Integrity in mind as you look to complete is key. Some examples of Academic Integrity include:
- Making sure to put things in your own words or own photos and if you use the words/photos of others remember to quote them and cite your source.
- Only collaborate on graded assignments if you are allowed; if unsure, ask your online teacher.
- Remember to verify if you are able to use a calculator, your notes, or a translator on an assignments or assessments if you are not certain. Often there are limits on when you are able to use these items.
This screen cast has some general helpful hints for a successful online experience: (Example: what the retry arrow means and where to find feedback on your assignments):
