Three Rivers Local School District September Newsletter

Thank you, Three Rivers!

We want to extend a sincere thank you to our entire school community and surrounding districts. This has been one of the toughest weeks Three Rivers has faced and yet everyone expressed immediate care and kindness. The staff was able to process their emotions and stay strong to ensure a safe and normal school environment for students. Parents and community members reached out to help in any way possible. Students leaned on one another and their counselors to face their emotions and work through them in a healthy manner. Thank you!

As a reminder, Monday, September 4th is Labor Day and we do NOT have school. Please take this extended weekend to love on your family and friends.

Community Lacrosse Opportunity

Three Rivers Families,

With lacrosse being one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S., the Timberwolves organization is hoping to reintroduce it to the Three Rivers community. The Timberwolves are a nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to teaching the game to first-year players for the last three years. We have teams in the levels K-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8.

Our goal is to gauge the overall interest of the Three Rivers School Community.

Signups are open now on www.gtimberwolves.com. The fees go to securing fields (indoor and out) and various club costs for uniforms/ referees, etc. We are a recreational team and NOT SELECT OR CLUB, nor are we affiliated with the Three Rivers Local School District. We welcome all boys, regardless of their lacrosse experience or skill level. Attached is a flyer about our organization and below are some facts about lacrosse and the Timberwolves.

  • Why are we doing sign-ups now for a spring sport? We offer a free clinic in October, and we start practicing indoors in January. Being that lacrosse is new for many kids, we want them to get the equipment and learn the basics, so they are ready in January.

  • Yes, you can still play other sports. We are confident that the boys will enjoy lacrosse and we simply want to grow the sport on the west side. We have several multi-sport players and will always be flexible.

  • We practice and play at Veterans Park and the PIT at Elder, which is convenient for most west side families. Practices will start about once a week indoors at Soccer City and Rivers Edge in January. We will practice indoors until it gets nice at the end of February.

  • K-2 practice once a week. Games are on Saturdays and ALL games last an hour for ALL levels, rain/snow or shine. 3/4, 5/6 practice twice a week (once we are outside) and play on Sundays. 7/8 play during the week or on Saturdays. Games run from the beginning of March through the end of May, with at least one tournament at the end.

  • We had over 115 kids from 22 different schools including parochial and public schools last year. We believe it is a great way to make new friends in other community schools. It has also been great for all the parents involved because they get to know the overall community in which they live.

  • All coaches are trained and background-checked through USA Lacrosse. The Timberwolves organization is a family-oriented organization.

  • Every kid this year will get a custom Timberwolves helmet wrap ($50 each), which was covered by the sponsorship of the Incline Public House. They will also get custom Timberwolves game shorts and a custom Timberwolves practice Jersey to keep. Game jerseys are passed out before the season but must be returned.

  • Our home field is Veterans Park and the PIT.

  • Last year we had 7 teams: 3 (K-2), 1 (3-4), 2 (5-6) and 1 (7-8). Very possible we will have at least 2 teams at every level so it’s important to sign up early. We are already way ahead of last year for sign-ups and anticipate filling to capacity much sooner.

  • We play other organizations in the Southern Ohio Youth Lacrosse League. This is a "rec" league but some organizations are better than others, due to kids starting the sport earlier in life. On top of having a blast, we did very well last year, having a winning record for our teams at every level and representing the west side by winning several tournaments at all levels.

  • If you have any questions, feel free to call or text me at 513 250 6499 or email me at gtimberwolves@gmail.com.

Transportation Parent App

The Transportation Department has rolled out a new parent app called StopFinder. At this time, all parents and guardians should have received an email link to download the new app. Moving forward, this app will be the best way for transportation to get information to parents about route issues. If you have any questions about Stopfinder don't hesitate to get in touch with them at Transportation@trlsd.org or 513-467-3215. As we are approaching the end of the school year, please do not change your child's bus stop information for the upcoming school year until after May 1st to ensure no interruptions to your current bus information. If you do change your information after May 1st for this school year, please contact the Transportation Department to ensure the change is made promptly.

The Transportation Department is still actively looking to hire more Bus and Van drivers if you know someone interested. You can scan the QR code to apply.
