Among the many highlights of another busy week:
The Drama Club’s Fall Musical was a smashing success, as large and spirited audiences were treated to four amazing performances last weekend.
Three HHS music students (Gavin Anderson, Ethan Warhaftig, and Justin Yu) were accepted into the MMEA Southeastern Junior District Music Festival last Saturday.
Two HHS teachers and coaches received “MIAA Coach of the Year” honors in their respective sports at a ceremony in Milford on Wednesday evening; science teacher Dawn Diedricksen was named “Coach of the Year” in girls’ track and field, while Paul Canniff won “Coach of the Year” honors in wrestling.
The 11th biannual Andrew Warhaftig “Catching Kindness” Awards were presented before school yesterday morning.
Our Athletic Director, Jim Quatromoni, served as one of four invited panelists from across the state at the Addressing Hate in School Sports yesterday at TD Garden.
Looking ahead…
Students are invited to a free pottery class, sponsored by Hingham CARES, tomorrow (Saturday 12/10) at 7 PM.
Ninth Grade Advisory groups will meet during the second half of A Block on Monday 12/12.
The HHS Chorus will hold its winter concert on Tuesday 12/13 at 7 PM in the school auditorium.
Last week, we announced here that Luka Belleville had been named the “Opry Award” winner for December. This week, we asked Luka to describe what “inclusivity” means to him. Here’s the answer from a sophomore who has made a very positive and powerful impact on our school: "I believe that inclusivity can mean different things to different people. But to me, inclusivity is not denying someone else's differences in order to make them feel they 'fit in'. It means embracing others’ differences and lifting them up and making sure they know what makes them different is what makes them special. It's about making sure the people around you feel loved, even in the things they see as flaws, and embracing the differences they have trouble accepting."
Officer Ford, the SRO who handles Opry at HHS every day, added, “Luka Belleville is someone who I have really gotten to know well this year. His overwhelming positivity, kindness and respect for everyone around him made him an easy choice as this month's Opry Award winner! Looking forward to our walks together and games of fetch!”
The daily notices, the full school calendar, and the student newspaper, can always be viewed on the HHS website. Look for details on the website and in our weekly PTO newsletter.
Finally: The message below is being shared across the district (K-12) this week in all HPS newsletters…

Members of our National Honor Society and their faculty advisor, Mrs. Shaw, have embraced our school's "Adopt an Island" initiative. On a chilly Sunday morning, this is what the first 2 NHS pillars (SERVICE and CHARACTER) looked like!

HHS Athletic Director Jim Quatromoni and Coach Drew Pace were among the panelists at today's Addressing Hate in School Sports conference.
