Breeze Hill Weekly Bulletin

June 2, 2023

Message from the Principals

It is hard to believe this is our last issue of the Breeze Hill Weekly Update for the 2022-2023 school year. We are busy wrapping up with closing procedures and celebrations.

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our PTA board and members for consistently supporting our students and staff this year with incentives, activities, equipment, and events. Our entire PTA board and parents met regularly and worked many hours behind the scenes to bring positive programs and recognition to our students and staff.

We also want to thank our parents/guardians, volunteers, and Watch DOGS for coming and supporting our classes and school throughout the year. It was so great to see all of these adults on campus and interacting with the students. It made this year feel more like normal and the best part was that it helped our students. Thank you all for your time and participating and we look forward to even more of you being a part of the school community.

This year we made progress both academically and as a school. Our data from FastBridge shows growth with our students. We also are celebrating our 30th Anniversary this year and were able to get a mural completed for this occasion. We hope you will have seen it while at the Carnival or when on campus.

Please read through the rest of the bulleting for information regarding 5th Grade Promotion and Minimum day on the last day of school.

On behalf of the Breeze Hill Staff we wish you a positive end of the school year and a safe summer. We will see you all in August.

Greg Giroux, Principal

Letty Cimino, Assistant Principal

5th Grade Promotion

The ceremony will take place on Monday, June 5th at Breeze Hill Elementary School on the grass field at 9:00 AM. We hope that you will be able to attend. We will open Gate 4 for entry at 8:30 AM.

Every year we experience a wonderful turnout for this occasion and would love for the family to attend to show appreciation for all the hard work that your child has done. It is a time where we can all celebrate and congratulate our students for the efforts they have put into their elementary school years.

Chairs will not be provided. You may bring your own. Please do not bring balloons, horns, or umbrellas to the ceremony as these are distractions and may interfere with the sightline of others and be a distraction for the speakers and audience members. Also, we will not be checking out any younger siblings from the school site to attend the ceremony.

For those that would like to continue the celebration after the ceremony and would like to take their child out afterwards, please contact/inform your child's teacher.

Last Day of School is Minimum Day

Our last day of school is Wednesday, June 7th at 12:54 PM. We want to thank all of our students, families, and staff for working so hard this school year and enduring through all of the COVID protocols and changes. We have all grown a great deal this year and are eager and anxious for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year which begins on Wednesday, August 16th. See you all next year!!

School Bell Schedule Changes for All Schools in 2023-24

The Vista Unified School District just recently completed the approval process for new contracts with our collective bargaining associations. One outcome of this process is the elimination of the late start and early release schedules for students at all grade levels - elementary, middle, and high schools. Teachers and staff will continue to have opportunities for collaboration with their colleagues; however, it will no longer impact students and families on Mondays. In other words, students will no longer have early release for elementary and late start Mondays at the middle and high school level beginning the first day of the 2023-24 school year. We will be publishing the new bell schedules for all schools prior to July 1, 2023. We will also add these bell schedules to the new website for future reference.

School Site Council Member Needed for the 2023-2024 School Year

Parents and/or Guardians of Breeze Hill Students,

We are still looking for people to serve on our School Site Council for the upcoming school year. The term is either a one-year or two-year term. The task of the Council is to develop, monitor, and evaluate the school's Safety Plan, budget of Federal and State funds, and the Single Plan for Student Achievement. The meetings are held once a month for an hour.

If you are interested in nominating yourself, please email me your name and a 2 or 3 sentence writeup about who you are and why you would like to serve on the School Site Council. We will be taking nominations for the next few weeks. Thank you for participating.

Congratulations to our newly Reclassified Students

Last night, we recognized and celebrated 13 students who were identified as English Learners and became English Proficient. This is a huge accomplishment for each of the students and their families. We were excited to celebrate with the Director from the Multi-Lingual Department, Mr. Rafael Olavide.
