TN READY BEGINS TUESDAY (Grades 3-5 and EDGE 3-5)

Testing Schedules - BEGINS THIS TUESDAY

The state of Tennessee requires students in grades 3-5 to take the TN Ready Test.

Grades 3-5 will begin testing on April 19th. The last day of testing will be April 27th.

Any student who misses a test will be required to make up the test when they return to school. PLEASE do not be absent unless it is absolutely necessary or an emergency. Do not schedule any appointments before noon. We will be testing!

.

Grades K-5 will take NWEA during the month of May. This test helps us monitor growth and identify students who may need intervention through RTI, summer learning camp, or tutoring.

Parents:

Arrival: Please make sure to have your students to school on time. Students in grades 3-5 should be here no later than 8:05, but by 8:00 am is even better.

Hunger: EVERY STUDNENT EATS FREE but YOU MUST ARRIVE BY 7:45 am.

Students will test better if they are not hungry. So, please make sure they have had breakfast. The cafe closes at 8:00 am.

Rest: Please make sure your child has an early bedtime during testing. Thirty minutes earlier than normal is a great idea. Testing is tiring for students.

ABSENT/TARDY:

STUDENTS WHO ARE ABSENT DO HAVE TO MAKE UP THE TESTS. IF YOU ARE TARDY, YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE CLASS FINISHES A TEST BEFORE JOINING THE CLASS. MORE THAN LIKELY, TARDY STUDENTS WILL HAVE TO WAIT AND TEST IN THE AFTERNOON.

Autism Awareness Month

April is autism awareness month. EastView is honoring our fellow students and families who are touched by Autism by launching our own Buddy Bench project. This project is representative of our school’s heart for inclusion and love for all students. Starting this week, students will be given the opportunity to collaborate and design a bench with colors and phrases of their choice. For example, “kindness matters” or “embrace differences”. One design per class will be chosen. Next week, students and teachers will be able to vote on their favorite design. Our very own talented Lisa Ottinger will duplicate the design onto our donated bench to be placed on the pre-k playground. If you have any questions about this project, please contact Mrs. Hartness, Mrs. Darci, or Ms. Kara. We are so excited to have EastView to work as a team to support kindness and inclusion for all students!

WE WILL BE VOTING ON EACH CLASS'S DESIGN NEXT WEEK. EACH QUARTER or 25 cents counts as one vote. Bring your dollars and quarters NEXT WEEK.

YOUR CLASS COULD BE THE WINNER AND HAVE THE DESIGN PAINTED ON OUR NEW BUDDY BENCH.

Lost and Found

Several items have been found and have been ocated to our new lost and found area located in the gym. Please remind your child to look and check for any lost items here. We want our students to have everything they need and not lose expensive items that are important to them.

Please remember to charge computers nightly!

Set a routine for charging each night before bedtime.

We have several students in grades 3-5 who are forgetting to charge their computers. Computers are not used all day but they are used to supplement instruction. Teachers use IXL, Canvas, Reflex, EPIC, MyOn Reader, and Mastey Connect to reinforce and assess standards. When students' computers are not charged the students become frustrated and it can make their day more challenging. Please help your child establish a routine.
