Caraway Principal's Weekly Update
One Family, One Goal, No Limits
September 25, 2017
Hello Parents,
It is imperative that we have your help to keep our students safe. Please remember the following safety expectations:
- Please do not stop on the crosswalk. Wait until the lane is clear to turn prior to entering.
- It is illegal to pass buses with flashing lights and the stop sign out, even while on school property.
- When turning on to Oakview Drive from the school remember it is a right turn only during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup.
- Remember the speed limit in the school zone is 20 MPH.
- Car rider drop-off is on the Oakview side of the school.
- Student drop-off on the Carlwood side is only allowed for students in the FAC and PPCD classes.
Children are the least predictable pedestrians and the most difficult to see. Please help us keep our students safe by following this established set of safety guidelines.
Best Regards,
Katrina Bailey, Principal

Tribes Weekly Agreement - Common Sense
Common sense simply means to use good judgment. Often, common sense is simply a matter of thinking before you act—of drawing on what you already know without having to figure it out. Common sense is a kind of “folk wisdom.” It’s not sophisticated; it’s not profound. Common sense tells you not to walk into the street in front of a moving car. It tells you to close the window when it’s raining. It tells you that if you don’t like being called names or bullied, other people don’t like it either.
Common Sense is an important lifeskill. This character trait may seem like the easiest to grasp, but it is often the most mystifying. That's why in our classrooms, teachers work with students to explore the qualities, uses, and importance of good, old-fashioned common sense.
The best ways to teach common sense is to figure out ways to give children practice acquiring it.

Caraway Academy!
Caraway staff is gearing up for the first semester of the 2017-18 Caraway Academy!
Success of this program depends, not only on our Caraway staff and students, but also on parental involvement, donations, and community volunteers. If you have time to volunteer, our academies will be every Friday, for 8 weeks, starting on September 29th. The time is 7:55-8:55 am. Please go to this form to volunteer your time.
Some of our Caraway Academy classes need items you might have lying around the house or which you could purchase at minimal cost. If you have anything onthis list which you are willing to donate, please sign up. Please plan on dropping off your items as soon as possible. All donations can be brought to Ms. Costello, Mrs. Solis, sent with your child, or dropped off in Safe & Secure. Again, here is the link to the list of needed items.
