Mighty Tritons
I hope you all had a great break and are ready to charge until the spring break. Please be mindful of the following:
A. Welcome Back! Dr. Luis Lopez is back from active duty to serve our community. Please pass the counseling center and say hello and get reacquainted! Reunited and it feels so good!
B. Common Syllabus. Again, I want to stress my gratitude for the work you are taking on. I have some great progress in each department. Keep the focus on compromise, creativity and equity. I believe in the art of teaching will always belong to you. Let's work on the common space where can support students with interventions. Remember: Teaching to the standards can mean a lot of creative opportunities for a team. Just consider how you can have similar points for the project/test. We are almost there. Use the common syllabus as a guiding point for your PLCs in the future. Let the administration team know how we can help you.
Think outside of the box as well! I am budgeting monies for next year for possible pullouts, additional tutors and the U-Turn model for all subjects (if you like). We want to support you by any means necessary.
C. No Faculty Meeting. Yup... you heard it right. HOWEVER, because I believe that we should always celebrate us and take time to connect each month, I am asking you for one consideration. I hope you will bring your team to the pavilion to work and/or socialize. We will have some desserts placed out for you and tables set up. We just want you take some time to just be with each other. The admin team will not be there. At the minimum, stop by and feed your soul for a few minutes.
D.Update to ELM Handbook. Here is the LINK.
E. Master Schedule. We will start looking at student requests this week and the master schedule will start to take shape shortly. Stay tuned!.
F. Promotion. Students who pass all 8th grade classes will have all other classes validated and make them eligible to participate in the promotion ceremony. There will be specials cases for students who passed all of their classes but failed one this semester. We shall talk more about this issue in March.
Don't forget to check out the AP section about Disneyland and Sea World tickets.

Enthusiasm (Triton Trait of the Month!)
Enthusiasm is putting your whole heart into what you do. Whatever the task, no matter how big or small, it will always turn out better if you put your whole heart into it! A great thing about enthusiasm is that it's contagious! Your spark of energy and excitement can ignite others to live their lives with enthusiasm.
Its also important to remember that enthusiasm is be more than just showing energy and excitement. It is also represented by a passion for a cause or project. One does not have to be the life of the party to build enthusiasm. By treating even the smallest, insignificant jobs as important, paying attention to details even when the newness wears off, and aiming to be an encourager to others, we build relationships and share enthusiasm with everyone around us.
In the weeks to come, be sure to nominate students for Triton of the Week who exemplify these traits of Enthusiasm.
