Session 3 Club Descriptions
Spring Track
We will practice sprinting, long distance, and field events to train for our meets against Cameron and Fuller. Everybody is welcome, but please be prepared to run!
Magic the Gathering
Magic The Gathering is a fantasy card deck game of strategy that involves groups of two or more players. The game encourages the development of social, critical thinking, literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills. MTG is fun and engaging, while helping students to destress and develop humility, while immersing themselves in fantastic worlds, with all types of creatures and wizards. Players of all levels are welcome. The club will provide the needed materials.
Zumba
We take the "work" out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you'll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. Super effective? Check. Super fun? Check and check.
Dungeons & Dragons
Come on a fantasy role playing adventure! Build characters and work together to fight dragons and the defeat evil that plagues the land. All are welcome from new and experienced players. Only bring yourself, paper and a pencil, no electronics required.
Robotics
WalshBots is the competitive robotics teams of Walsh Middle School. Students will design, build, and program robots using the VEX Robotics platform to play Tower Takeover, a game played by thousands of middle & high school teams world wide. Each term the club will prepare students to be on competitive teams, and those students who meet the requirements will be competing in competitions in New England and attempting to advance to the VEX World Championships, where over 1,500 teams from over 44 countries compete.The club meets at least twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays). Students on competition teams are expected to meet Wednesday as well, and later in the season up to four times a week.
TV Production
Are you interested in learning how to shoot and produce videos? Then join us in the Walsh video production club. How do you interview someone well? How do you use a camera? How do we edit a piece for production? Come join us and find out!
GSA
The GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) is a club for any student who wants to support the LGBTQ community and their allies. We work on providing activities and programs that promote acceptance for all students.
Yoga
Yoga will be about blending the art of balance, strength, and flexibility. Yoga will improve level of fitness and help students mentally. We want to be able to work on breathing patterns and to calm the body especially while stresses. This is a beginner class and you do NOT need experience!!"
Math League
Math club is part of a national math team called IMLEM. We learn about and practice higher-level math concepts so that we can compete against other schools at our math meets. You are not required to compete in the math meets, so you can also just come to learn something new and challenge yourself!
Latinas En Accion
•Empower girls of a common community
•Develop leadership skills.
•Become positive role models for themselves and others
•Promote participation in after school activities, and
• Provide a supportive environment where girls may nurture one
another and grow into confident and respectful adolescents.
•Develop emotional IQs along with vocabulary that will help them
develop healthy and long lasting relationships.
•Provide a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals to explore
their personal issues with beauty, health, and identity.
Photography Club
In this course, students will discover the essential elements of photography. They will put their skills to practice using either smartphones or provided digital cameras, and then learn basic editing techniques. No prior experience in photography is required.
Pop Choir
A group for singers looking to perform at a higher level with their classmates. Music will consist of pop, rock, jazz, and a capella. All students are welcome!
Gardening
Garden club is to get students involved in improving the current conditions of the environment through projects such as recycling, informing their peers and helping the community. We will integrate science and math in various projects throughout the school year. Our goal is to plant a garden at the end of the school year.
Intramurals
Enjoy Gym class? Come to intramurals to learn a number of individual, group, and team games that will inspire you to pursue a lifetime of interest in sports and fitness. All students are welcome regardless of ability.
Debate Club
Love to prove your point? In debate club you will learn how to research a topic, work individually and in groups to make an argument (and win), practice public speaking, and play Superfight (the best debate game ever).
Chinese Culture
Chinese Culture Club allows students to learn and enjoy the beauty of Chinese culture. Join us in experiencing the long and amazing Chinese culture through traditional arts and crafts, calligraphy, food, movies and a lot more.
Jazz Band
Jazz Band is fun/performance based club that meets every Tuesday after school from 2:30- 4:20 (3:45-4:20 extra help). We meet and rehearse in the band room (C103). Jazz Band is open to 6th, 7th & 8th gr. students. There are no auditions. We play a variety of music... Blues, Swing, Straight jazz, Latin, Rock, Funk and more…
Homework Club
This a quiet place for students to be able to get work done when they would otherwise not be able to. Students can sign up for this to be a regular club or there is also limited availability for students to sign up on specific days they need to stay. Please contact Mr. Jantzen 24hrs ahead of time if you will need the bus home.
MAS(Mentoring and Academic Support)
MAS is a program run with Mass Bay Community college. Students are selected based off of many factors then go through a formal interview process to be selected for MAS. If your student has been selected for this program then please select it on the club sign up form.
