Triton Preview and Review 8.14.2017

Greetings

Triton Parents and Guardians:

Thank you to all of those who attended our Parent Involvement Night. It was a great evening of hearing from our community and sharing opportunities to get involved with the school. This week, there are a number of additional opportunities to get involved. On Tuesday at 9:00 AM in the library, I will be hosting my first Coffee with the Principal. Come by and share what I can do to help our community. At the request of several parents, I will also host a principal with the coffee on the night of Open House. You will receive information from your student on where to report. I will host the Coffee with the Principal at 5:00 in the pavilion. The actual event starts at 6:00. Please see the newsletter on the school website on Monday. I hope to see you there. I plan to bring the Coffee with the Principal opportunities to the community as well in such places as grocery stores and places of worship. Stay tuned!

I am always in the process of honoring and recognizing our teachers. If you hear something great about our staff members, please pass it on to me in the form of an email. I would love to share it with our staff. I have been to a number of classrooms and I can tell you firsthand that our teachers are amazing. The students are being tasked with worthwhile projects and are engaged in a number of activities. Clubs and athletics are starting up. Make sure your student gets involved!

Congratulations to our new PTSO Cabinet:

Big Picture Items

Stay Informed!

* Coffee with the Principal is this Tuesday at 9:00 AM in the library. I would love to hear from you about your concerns and the great things we are doing out here!

* I have spoken with district officials regarding our traffic concerns and I am doing to best that I can to navigate this issue in a positive manner. At this time, we are being asked to be patient regarding the posting of individuals monitoring traffic. I have also contacted the Traffic Engineering Department of Chula Vista and will be meeting with them as well.

* Congratulations to Rei Harashima for competing in the Junior Golf Tournament in Scotland! The USA won the event. Way to go Rei!

Open House

Join us for this special event as you will meet the teachers of your son/daughter. It will be a great evening. Please note that there will be a lot of individuals on campus that night. Please refer to the letter that can be found on our website on Monday. You will find helpful information.

Final Thoughts

Growth Mindset

I was in a classroom with a teacher who was talking about the growth mindset and it inspired me to always think in a more positive manner. I am proud to see our teachers encouraging our students to take chances in the learning! If you are not familiar with the growth mindset, check out this video below. It can be a great foundation for your family discussions. I always remind myself, "How can I recognize the effort and not always the outcome for my child?" or "How can I highlight that results of the final project was due to the hard work and commitment my child put in?"
