MHS Remote Learning
Principal's Weekly Update for May 13, 2020
Class of 2020 Graduation Requirements
In an effort to clarify these changes, please understand that reduced requirements are not meant to imply that seniors will automatically pass their current classes. That will still require their grade to be passing. Rather, the changes in graduation requirements simply reduces the credits needed in particular areas to meet the standard to earn a diploma. All current courses will still be assigned a grade of Pass or Incomplete and will still be recorded on the student's final transcripts.
Additionally, teachers will continue to offer enrichment and remediation activities for all seniors through the end of their semester, May 22. Counselors will also be sending emails to students' families explaining your student's graduation status in light of the changes. If you have additional questions, please contact your student's counselor.

Class of 2020 "Graduate Together" Opportunity
This information is provided by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Luckily, we’re getting some help with that effort through a new nationwide initiative called Graduate Together, anchored by education advocate and NBA legend LeBron James. This one-hour primetime event will be broadcast live and commercial-free Saturday, May 16, at 7 p.m., on all three major television networks plus FOX, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok, PeopleTV, and Complex Networks. The lineup, curated by high school students, includes a broad array of leaders, icons, and entertainers, like Bad Bunny, Barack Obama, the Jonas Brothers, Lena Waithe, Malala Yousafzai, Maren Morris, Megan Rapinoe, Pharrell Williams, Yara Shahidi, and YBN Cordae.
We all have an incredible opportunity to recognize the Illinois Class of 2020 in this event, by sharing videos and essays with the production team. They’re seeking submissions from high school seniors, their families, and their educators, and they prefer landscape (horizontal) format. Even if your entry doesn’t make it into the show, it may be distributed through social media or follow-up stories.
