Staff Proclamation
October 5, 2018
Examples of Living Our Mission
- Rachel Klein professionally navigated two successful IEP meetings today. She demonstrated patience and preparation and she led these out with two large teams.
- We celebrated National Custodian Appreciation Day on Tuesday. I shared the following with Dr. Dearman and Mr. Hackett about our amazing team:
I may be partial, but Dunlap Grade School has the most phenomenal team of custodians. George Horrie and Nancy Riekena serve Dunlap Grade School with the utmost professionalism. They consistently go above and beyond to serve our staff, students and community. They take pride in their work at DGS and that is evident in how well our facilities are taken care of.
Our building was created in 1949, but with their hard work and dedication, the building shines and is well maintained. Both George and Nancy value the relationships that they have created with staff and students.
George knows every single child in our building and welcomes them off the buses and in lunch each day. He willingly takes an idea and makes it happen. Most recently, he constructed an 8ft square Lego Wall in our hallway for our students.
Nancy is our evening custodian and is equally a valued member of our team. She checks in our staff after hours to ensure they are doing well, decorates the building seasonally, is a master gardener and tends to our grounds, and spreads joy in big and small ways.

You can submit a positive office referral for students demonstrating:

Problem Solving
or Being a Royal/Showing the Royal Way
I am also happy to complete a positive office referral and Good News Call of the Day for staff. If there is something amazing you see and want to celebrate with a staff member, let me know! Earlier this week, I called Lisa's parents to tell them how amazing she is and what impact she has on our building.
