Sub-surface & Surface Mining
Sub- surface mining consists of digging tunnels or shafts into the Earth to dig up and reach buried deposits.
Surface mining is when soil and rock overly mineral deposits are removed.
The difference between the two is that sub-surface is in the ground and under the first few layers of the Earth, and surface mining is right under the first layer.
