Broad Rock Parent and Community Newsletter August 8, 2020

Principal's Message

Dear Broad Rock Family,

Virginia's three-day tax free weekend started yesterday and runs through Sunday. Families can buy qualifying school supplies, clothing and foot wear tax free. This year our school supply list will look a little different. There is a virtual school supply list for the first semester as well as an in person school supply list for the second semester.

Additionally, each RPS student will receive a #ReopenWithLove Kit that will include all the supplies and subject specific materials they will need to start our virtual school year. The goal is to make sure each student receives their kit prior to the start of the year but we recognize that there might be shipping delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and an increased demand for these items. We will keep you updated on when you can expect kits to be available.

Please click 2020-21 school supply list and details about the #ReopenWithLove Kit below.

Stay safe and healthy!

Take care.

Spring Pictures

Strawbridge delivered school pictures. If your child took a spring picture, they are available for pick up from Monday - Friday from 9:30 - 12:30.

All new registration will take place online this year. Registration is now open. If you need to register your preschool or student, please click the link below.

RPS Support Line 804-780-6195

Richmond Public Schools has created a hotline so that RPS families can quickly get answers (in English or Spanish) about food and technology distribution, housing support, transportation, language assistance, Pre-K and Kindergarten registration, and more. See the flyers below!

Reading At Home

Your child should either read independently for two 20-minute sessions per day, or listen to an audiobook or be read to. Any reading material is fine, as long as you feel it's appropriate. If your child struggles with five or more words on the page, then the selection is too difficult.
