The holiday season provides to us traditions and rituals that bring people together. One of the best rituals that bring people together during this time of year is the act of gift-giving. As a mother and grandmother, I enjoy this aspect more and more every year. Research has found that "giving" is a surprisingly complex and important part of human interaction, helping to define relationships and strengthen bonds with family and friends. The psychology of why gift giving is so rewarding is simple - it allows people to connect. This feeling is one that enlightens the soul and brings out the best in us. There is an old saying “it is better to give than receive” and it has a special meaning especially when the realization of the benefits that it provides to those who give.
What I find to be the most important gifts we can provide children (in school and at home) as they learn and grow is wonder, imagination, and support. A gift that allows children to explore, create, and to express their individuality is truly a gift for their future. Our Eatonville community provides many gifts to each child every day by staying true to our core mission: Educating the Whole Child.
To this end, let us remember that not all gifts are wrapped and that the power of words in helping young people feel both successful and special is one of the best gifts we can give.
Thank you for your support of the Eatonville school community. Continue to stay involved in the education of this community's youth and know that your school district staff and leadership team continues to deliver high quality education services to children.
Please enjoy all that the holiday season has to offer with your friends and family.
Enjoy the season,
