PSAT Testing was a Success!
All students have been issued a Chromebook and are expected to report to school on testing days with their device FULLY CHARGED. Thank you for your help reminding your student of this expectation.
Here is a brief overview of what the M-STEP is, what it means as well as what it offers from the Department of Education.
In addition, here is a document that was created for parents, discussing your role in helping your student prepare for testing.
MANY MASTERCLASS OPTIONS FOR SMS STUDENTS! Reserve your spot today!
Earlier this week we had a Masterclass on the career of an FBI and also another Masterclass with a Fox 2 Legal Correspondent. We had a great turnout from our students and they asked great questions!
Take a look at our upcoming Masterclass. Students can sign up on their Student Hub.
Monday, April 24th at 10am-11am Professional Photography
These in person Masterclasses allow students the opportunity to learn about and ask questions from people who are currently working in the field, and “hear it from the horse's mouth” as they say. The Masterclass series has been a huge hit with our kids. We are so grateful for these dedicated professionals who have voluntarily taken time out of their busy schedules to come in and present to our middle schoolers!
Any students interested in attending a Masterclass needs to reserve their spot on the links on their Student Hub page (also linked at the bottom of this newsletter).
3rd Quarter RAPS Party Planning
All qualifying students will be able to attend our Quarter 3 RAPS party this Monday. Students were made aware today during their lunches if they qualified and which lanes they wanted to be assigned to and with whom for Monday.
*All students who qualified for the trip on Monday must turn in their permission slip on Monday morning. They received it at lunch today or yesterday. If they do not have their permission slip, they will default to attending the movie reward that we will be showing during that time. I've also attached a Google Form permission slip in this newsletter if your child misplaced theirs.
Congratulations to all of our amazing students who qualified. We are so proud of you! Keep up the great work :)
Internet Safety Assemblies
All 6th grade students will attend the assembly on Monday, April 17th in the afternoon. All 7th and 8th grade students will attend the assembly next month.
The presentation will cover an FBI 101 Overview, Internet Safety Guidance on appropriate/inappropriate behaviors including cyber bullying, Sexting and Sextortion-what is it and what to do if you're a victim, and Think Before You Post that covers an overview of making school threats and the consequences associated with the action.
If you do not want your child to attend this assembly, please send your request to Mrs. Doman at domank@wwcsd.net.
Sports Pictures are Coming Up!
Individual and team sports pictures will be taking place at Stevenson on Monday, April 24. Please see the photos schedule as well as the flyer for online ordering. Please note, there will not be a makeup day for sports photos. Uniforms will be provided.
Paper order forms are available in the main office.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Phillips at phillipsae@wwcsd.net.
Teacher Appreciation Week is Coming Up!
Let's take this opportunity to shower the staff with all the love and appreciation that we can. Please take the survey below to submit a sentence or two for each staff member that has had an impact on you (as a parent) or for your child. We would love to have responses from both parents and students. Feel free to submit as many as you would like. The more the merrier!

WASHINGTON DC TRIP INFORMATION
Dear 8th Grade Families,
We are getting very excited as our Washington D.C. trip is quickly approaching. This email is intended to provide you with an update, as well as ask you to take care of a few things for us.
We will be traveling with Franklin and Adams Middle School students. There will be five adult chaperones on this trip, one being Ms. Phillips and Mrs. Sullivan. The other adults attending are from the other middle schools.
We have started assigning rooms and have guaranteed that each student will share a room with at least one of their listed preferences. Room selections are due Monday. Once the rooms are finalized, students will be notified of who they are sharing space with.
We will hold a virtual information session next month to review our trip itinerary, trip expectations, what students should pack, departure and arrival times, as well answer questions you may have.
We need you to take care of the following before the end of April:
- Complete the emergency form here
- Have your student join the Remind Group here. This is how we will communicate with all students as needed during our trip.
- Like our Facebook page to see photos and videos of your student on the trip along the way.
All balances are due by April 21, 2023. If you have any questions, please ask!
Parents Make the Difference!
Phone Use At School
If you need to make contact with your child during school hours, please contact our main office at (734) 419-2350 and we will get you in touch with them or relay the message.
With your continued support and helping us to enforce the reason for this rule, we will find that we won't have to address this anymore.
Please remember that if students are found breaking this rule, their phone will be confiscated and a parent will have to pick it up. We do not return the phone to the student.
Donations for the School Store
Please contact Caitlin Griffith, at griffithcm@wwcsd.net if you have any possible connections that you would like to discuss. Thank you!
