Principal's Report and Health Updates
We were happy to receive a formal letter on Wednesday from the LACDPH. The letter verified our lack of positive cases over the past 10 days and lifted the "outbreak" status for our school. Though positive cases are to be expected moving forward, we are glad to see numbers improving around us. We continue to depend upon everyone's support and communication. It is essential that everyone is feeling well while at school. Ask your child how they are feeling before leaving for school, and keep your student at home if any symptoms are present. Use our 24 hour attendance line, 909-398-0325, to contact Norma or email her using our NEW ATTENDANCE email at SYC_Attendance@cusd.claremont.edu.
As numbers of positive COVID cases and hospitalizations continue to decline in the community, we anticipate changes in the protocols put in place during the surge. Please know we will update you as soon as that occurs.
PCR testing for COVID-19 will continue to be required prior to the return to school if COVID symptoms are present. CUSD will continue to provide testing at school sites (see below). If this is your first time attending one of our testing sites, see the link below to access a one-time testing form.
CUSD's Weekly Testing Sites this week:
Tuesday: at Vista del Valle Elementary from 2:45-3:45 PM.
Wednesday: at Sumner-Danbury Elementary from 1:00-2:00 PM
Thursday: at Taylor Hall, just above CHS from 3:30-5:00 PM
Testing can also be obtained through one of the resources below or your physician:
- LA County COVID testing locations: https://covid19.lacounty.gov/testing/
- San Bernardino County COVID testing location: https://sbcovid19.com/testing-sites/
- CUSD contracted testing location: Upland Ontario Medical Clinic, 1520 N Mountain Ave #128, Ontario, CA 91762, (909) 949-9299 (let them know you are a CUSD family).

The Talent Show is coming soon!
Each February, we host an Annual Sycamore Talent Show to give students an opportunity to share their talents and skills with an audience of friends and family. All students are able to participate. They need only to ensure their performance is well-planned and appropriate for our young audience. This year, our show will be virtual. On Sunday, February 27, we will open the Talent Show for the entire school and families to enjoy.
Participants will upload a performance-ready video of their act to Mrs. Stanger between February 15 and February 23. The video needs to formatted as .MP4 and submitted to the Talent Show Google Folder using this link. Students will be notified by February 24 if their act needs to be revised in any way. Students need to submit a signed permission slip to participate. Please email the completed permission slip to Mrs. Stanger at astanger@cusd.claremont.edu or bring it to school by February 23. Here are the parameters for acts:
· Students may appear in only one individual or group act. Accompaniment may be provided by those in your home.
· Joint acts can be created by editing separate videos into one or by having participants follow the current protocols for masking and distancing.
· Acts are limited to a maximum of 3 minutes.
· All acts (lyrics, background music, spoken material, movement, dress, etc.) must be appropriate for elementary aged students.
