New Books Have Arrived!

Recently, the Bridges Media Center was able to purchase new books using Scholastic dollars earned through the Scholastic Book Fair. Thank you to all of the parents who made the book fair a success! Students will be seeing them on the bookshelves soon.

~Bridges Media Staff

Spring has sprung:

Helpful rules for nice weather days; 50 degrees and above does not require a jacket unless a parent sends one. K-2 students will be required to wear a jacket on the playground for any temp below 50 degrees. 3rd-5th grade students, it is their discretion. A second pair of tennis shoes is required for gym. Flip flops are not banned, however they are not safe for play on the playground at recess and gym shoes cannot be worn outside to preserve the quality and safety of gym activities. District policy for dress code standards is on page 20 of the Bridges handbook.

Morning Drop Off and Parking

We can no longer park in front of the building in the bus drop area at all. The bus drop off area must be reserved for bus loading and unloading only.

In the morning please drop off and go without hindering the bus drop off in any way. It is against the law to park in a bus loading and unloading area. You will be ticketed.

Students can be dropped off near the west end of the building between 7:45am and 8:00am. Supervision is available and students are brought in on below zero days.

Students can be dropped off near the east end of the building after 8:00am.

Parents wishing to park and bring their students in to school can come through door 1 and wait with their children until 8:00am to head on to class.

Parents choosing to park must do so on the opposite side of the street from the bus drop off. Parents should not be parking in the lot and bringing their students in door three before 8:00am. 7:40am - 8:00am is staff work and meeting time. Please respect their time.

Morning Arrival

Business hours for parents are 8:15-2:15 with the back parking lot and security entrance available right off the parking lot, door 3. Students arriving between 7:45 and 8:10 will be allowed in the front entrance, door 1, at 8:00am. Supervision is provided on the playground from 7:45-8:00. Please keep school arrival to 7:45a.m. Students may not be dropped off without parent supervision prior to 7:45. School start time is 8:00a.m. - 8:10a.m. Door 1 off Garfield Avenue is open 8:00a.m. - 8:10a.m. Students arriving after 8:10 must be signed in by a parent at the office. Drop off in the morning can be done on Garfield Ave. avoiding the bus drop off area for incoming buses. Thank you! Your children’s safety is important to us.

8:00AM Bus Arrival

Parents we do have a bus that arrives at 8:00am or shortly there after. By law, it is necessary to have a designated space for the bus to pull up. We do have a bus drop off and pick up designation that conflicts with parent morning drop off to some extent. It is unlawful for the bus to stop in the street with it's red flashing light when a drop off area has been designated for them. Thank you for adhering to the larger drop off and pick up area during the day and afternoon. We appreciate your cooperation.

Being There Experiences

Parents, it is most important that you support the safety of your children on Being There experiences by making sure they wear their neon yellow Bridges shirt. BAC purchases them for you, you can trade them in as they grow, and we can see our children in big venues. It also shows pride when out in the public. Wearing their Bridges shirt is mandatory. Please make trades on non Being There experience days.

Breakfast

Students arriving for breakfast should enter door 2 off the playground between 7:45-8:00. All kindergarten students are offered a free breakfast if you would like. Students can stay for breakfast in the cafeteria until 8:00 and then head up to class for the day.

Early Bus Arrival

We do have one or two buses that arrive prior to 7:45 every morning. Please have your children who ride the early bus enter through door 1 and go to the office. At 7:45 they can go to the lunchroom for breakfast or they can go to the playground.

Late Start Days

Children must be registered in the office to attend late start days. All students must be be checked in at the lunchroom by a parent between 8:00 am and 8:30 am on late start days. Door #2 off the playground will be open at 8:00. Parents wishing to drop students off after 8:30 am must follow the late start schedule arriving between 9:45 am and 10:00 am. The final late start date of the school year is May 8. *Children cannot be dropped off without supervision.

Illness

If your child has had a fever or has been vomiting, we ask that you keep them home 24 hours after symptoms are gone without medication. Please call the school office attendance line: 207-5204 if your child is ill. If you let your child’s teacher know through email, please email Tammy Hayes as well at thayes1@isd77.k12.mn.us

Head Lice: Please report so the office is aware of it. District Policy states parents are notified if three cases are in one classroom. A request to treat is made by the school nurse. Parents are not mandated to pull their child from school for treatment but it will be advised.

Lunch

Parents are welcome to eat lunch at any time. Please let the office know by 9:00a.m. on the day that you plan to eat. Lunch for parents and visitors is $3.65. We do not have any cash in the office so please bring correct change. Parents and siblings may not use student pin numbers.
