Principal's Message
Are there really only a few short weeks left of school? Time sure flies when you’re having fun and learning at the same time! This has been a fabulous year but I know everyone is looking forward to summer. Make sure to stay sharp and keep up your academic skills by READING every day. All students will have access to iReady this summer. I will make sure to communicate the access information as soon as it is available. Teachers will also be sending home some summertime suggestions to help students prepare for next school year.
I am thrilled to announce that LCE will officially be an AVID school next year! This is a program that helps prepare students for lifelong learning starting in kindergarten. The AVID Program takes a systemic approach through the use of WICOR strategies and focuses on high expectations, rigor and developing a college readiness culture. I will share more details and information with you once we complete the training this summer. This is very expensive program and I want to thank our school district for supporting us.
Fourth grade had an incredible opportunity to talk to Astronaut Wiseman via Google. He did such a fantastic job engaging the students and answering their awesome questions. Thank you to Mrs. Baseman and the 4th grade team. Check out the Youtube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AITzprpCYuw.
We’ve had a really long testing season and everyone is tired. Let’s make the last few weeks really great by respecting each other, staying calm and focused and just being nice to each other. Good manners and a smile sure go a long way. I know there are lots of educational choices out there so I want to thank you for trusting us with your children.

Media Corner
Happily Ever After Book Fair is coming back to Limestone Creek in May! Every student will receive a free book from the Palm Beach Children’s Services Council. The enchanted event will be in the Media Center. What a wonderful way to kick off summer reading.
Calling all books! Calling all books! It’s time for all of our Limestone Creek Media books to come home for the summer. Please have all Media books returned home to Media no later than May 19th. If students have lost Media books please send in your lost book cash payment before the end of the May. If at a later date a lost book is located, a refund is joyfully provided.
E-Books from our library are available to students year round. Reading is a great way to beat the summer heat. E-Book access directions are available at the link below. Enjoy!

Our school will be participating in Scholastic’s Read For The World Record again this year. Please encourage your child to participate in this exciting reading summer program to avoid the summer reading slide. Parents must sign up their child to award reading minutes to Limestone Creek. Remember to sign up and log on those reading minutes daily or weekly at www.scholastic.com/summer starting May 8, 2017 and ends September 8, 2017. Read For The World Record information will be coming home in your child’s backpack. Additional information will be located on our school Edline site. We’d love to be listed in the Scholastic 2018 Read For The World Record. READ! READ! READ! We can do it!

School Advisory Council News
Thanks so much to all the families who contributed to our SAC sponsored pet collection drive. We were able to donate lots of food, toys, beds, and other needed supplies to both the Animal Rescue Force of South Florida and All for One Pet Rescue. Also, a big thanks to the many students who made posters to advertise for this important cause and Cathy Sherlock who picked up all the supplies and took them to the donation sites.
Our last School Advisory Council meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, May 17th at 3:30 in the media center. A big thanks to all the parents, business partners, and staff who have so graciously been involved
The School Advisory Council meets from August through May. Our first meeting of the fall will meet on Wednesday, August 16th to kick off another successful year. Please come. All meetings are open. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at Susan.Wood @palmbeachschools.org.
Thanks and I hope to see you at our next meeting,

We are looking ahead to school year 2017-2018! Is your student returning to LCE next year?!
We certainly hope so! However, we understand everyone's plans change.
