News to Know - August 8, 2019

From the Principal...Steve Morrill

Welcome to the Thompson Middle School 2019-2020 school year. We are looking forward to a wonderful new year and can't wait to have newly renovated our hallways full of students again. We are thrilled to finally all be under one roof!

As we transition to the new school year, we are providing all stakeholders with the following information regarding frequently asked questions and Thompson building policies to best ensure a smooth, meaningful, school year.

Much work and time goes into setting up accurate schedules for our students in the middle schools. Additionally, we strive to balance class sizes and student dynamics so that the most effective learning environment can be created for all of our students. As a result, some students may find that their schedules do not match their friends. One of part of middle school philosophy is that this is a time for students to learn new skills, try out new activities, and meet new people in an emotionally safe and welcoming environment. Please do not contact the school to ask for a change in your child's schedule to accommodate friends. We are not able to honor these types of requests. If you have any specific questions regarding your child's schedule, please contact your grade level counselor (see below). We will do our part to create the best learning environment possible for your child. We thank you, in advance, for your support of Thompson Middle School.

"Let's Talk!"

St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 has launched a new communication tool that aligns with our strategic commitment to provide opportunities for parents, community members, business leaders, and intergovernmental partners to regularly engage in the activities of schools and students.

Now, when you visit the district website or any of our school’s sites, you will notice a feature called “Let’s Talk!” highlighted in the bottom left-hand corner of the page. When you click on that button, you will be taken to a screen where you can access hot topics, district departments, and schools. Use those interest areas to submit a question, comment, suggestion, or compliment and we will respond to your message.

We appreciate your feedback and look forward to hearing from you!
