Principal's Message
Dear Terra Linda Families,
Thank you for stopping by Terra Linda on Tuesday last week to pick up your students' supplies and return Terra Linda books. If you forgot any books at home or are still reading them, we will have another drop-off opportunity in June.
Dreambox Webinar
There will be two optional webinars this week for families who want to learn more about Dreambox. See details below.
Principal Chat
Our next Principal Chat is Wednesday morning at 8:30 am. See the Zoom link above. I will share a few updates, answer questions and discuss any ideas you have as we head into the final 3 weeks of the school year.
We Need Your Help!
We really need your help advertising in our community about enrolling in school. We are looking to enroll all of our future Kindergarteners before we are out of school in June! The more students we can enroll now helps us plan for the fall as well as maintain our teaching staff. It also helps us connect with families over the summer with tips for preparing for Kindergarten. So please spread the word to everyone. We are also accepting enrollment for students who are new to our area. Do you have a new neighbor? Please ask them if they have children who will be in Kindergarten through 5th grade next year. If so, encourage them to go to the Beaverton School District website and enroll their children in school. Or, they can stop by Terra Linda any Wednesday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. We have a temporary office in the module due to summer construction. Just watch for the sign in the bus lane!
Thank you for helping us get the word out to every family in the Terra Linda Boundary!
And thank you for your continued efforts with Distance Learning. We wish our students were sitting in our classrooms learning from teachers and each other. Thank you for making our current situation the next best thing!
With Appreciation,
Christy

PANDEMIC ELECTRONIC BENEFIT TRANSFER (P-EBT) PROGRAM- APPLY NOW!
The Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) announced last week that Oregon families with children who are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals will get cash benefits for the meals they would have received at school even if they have been accessing meals from schools during the closure. Families affected by COVID-19 may still apply for free and reduced meals for this school year.
Oregon is the recipient of a grant to provide funds to children experiencing food insecurity during this Pandemic. The Oregon Department of Education Child Nutrition Programs is supporting the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) program by collecting data from schools. If your child is eligible, you will be contacted shortly by the Department of Human Services (DHS). Instructions will be included to activate or refuse benefits.

Terra Linda Nurse Communication
As our school year is coming to an end in just a few short weeks, our school nurse, Alexandria Wesenberg, will be emailing families who have students with identified health conditions for a brief health update and to start preparing for next school year. Please keep an eye out for this email. If you have any questions, concerns, or are in need of resources, please continue to reach out to her. You can reach her by email at alexandria_wesenberg@beaverton.k12.or.us or phone at 503 356-3842.
Kindergarten registration is open online for the 2020-2021 school year. Paper enrollment packets can be picked up and dropped off every Wednesday. Our office staff will be available from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Wednesdays. Due to construction, we will be based out of a Module classroom. Look for the sign on the sidewalk in the bus lane (see pictures below).
Please help spread the word to any families and neighbors who have children ready for Kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year. Students must be at least five years of age on or before September 1, 2020 per state statute, and live within the attendance boundary of our school. We invite you to register early as this assists us in confirming enrollment for staffing purposes.

We are supporting the district's distance learning plans as best we can. We ask our families at the start of the week to share with us what school assignments they would like to have completed and what meetings (Zoom, Google classroom, etc.) they need to attend and when. Our teachers help the students complete their work and attend their meetings and report back at the end of day/week what was accomplished. We are also including additional engaging activities throughout the day while continuing to follow our social distancing and precautionary guidelines set forth by the state Office of Child Care.
If you have any further questions or would like any additional information about our current operations, please let me know.

Safe Routes to School Survey - Due by May 31
A message from Leah Biado-Luis, Beaverton Safe Routes to School Coordinator:
It’s data collection time again for Beaverton’s Safe Routes to School program. The purpose of this program is to make walking and biking to school safe, convenient and fun.
Parent’s and guardian’s input into how students travel to and from schools and their impression of the safety of the route is valuable as the city and county prioritize needed improvements for our roads.
The following link was generated from the National Safe Routes to School Center and will be used to give us a good picture of how students are getting to and from schools throughout the district.

- Spanish: http://www.saferoutesdata.org/surveyformparent.cfm?key=1305915
We appreciate your help in giving us information to make our program effective for all Beaverton School District students.
