December 11-15 AND December 18-19
I have learned that, although I am a good teacher, I am a much better student, and I was blessed to learn valuable lessons from my students on a daily basis. - Erin Gruwell
HOOT NEWS
WINTER WISHES PROGRAM:
A number of our families received the sign up forms for our Winter Wishes program. This program matches sponsors with families that are requesting some assistance with gifts and clothing over the winter holiday season. If you have a family that requests assistance, please have them come to the office to complete the forms. Happy Holidays!!
LOST AND FOUND:
All lost & found items will be donated prior to the Winter Holiday. Please encourage your students/parents to check for missing items.
GRADES:
Thank you for entering your grades weekly - all you have to do is enter comments when the posting window opens December 8th and closes on the 15th. Report cards go home when we return from the break.
Before you post, please make sure you have AT LEAST seven grades for Math and LA; four grades for Social Studies and Science.
Things to remember:
- You no longer have to finalize, only POST or POST to all.
- If a student is failing, be sure that the student has had the opportunity to make up any work that they have failed. This is board policy (as is the number of grades) .
- Progress reports should have been sent by now.
504 Students:
Make sure that he/she has had the appropriate accommodations on all work (dyslexic students need to have work read to them).
Gifted and Talented Students:
Parents should receive a copy of your differentiation log in their report card at the end of this 9 weeks for the semester. Please turn in a copy for their CUM folder to Pat.
If your averages are in RED after posting that means that the average in the grade book does not match the average on the Report Card tab. For K, 1, 2 - you need to repost your grade book. For 3,4,5 - you have not used single weight alpha.
Look at your assignments and make sure your scale value is always 100 for all grade levels. Check that your Max value is 4 for K-2nd and 100 for 3-5th.
Categories must have a weight otherwise when you add assignment grades, an average won't be calculated. If the average shows as NG, you have an incorrect category weight.
Did you know that K-2 can also enter assignment grades of 1.5, 3.4, etc.? Be sure to only do one place after the decimal. Unfortunately, this does not work with special areas or citizenship.

Below is a link to the various Features and Supports that are allowable for STAAR this year. Refer to the Student Form for clarification on what committees determine the eligibility and if it is allowed for certain students.
