LINCOLN COUNTY CASA
May 2018
News
We are very excited about our new addition to Lincoln County CASA. We have filled the position of Volunteer Coordinator. Kerry Moore joined our office on April 23rd. She brings to the position more than 28 years in the legal field as a paralegal. Most of those years were spent working with Dependency and Neglect children.
We are also very excited about our current training class and have some amazing volunteers that will assist us in providing a CASA to a number of children who have been waiting for that voice.
5K Superhero Race
Our 5K Superhero Race was definitely filled with many brave hero's. We had 130 racers turn out to brave the cold. While the weather was a bit brutal our warm hearted volunteers continued to show their awesome support of our program. We can't thank enough all of our community supporters who assisted in so many ways to make another Superhero Race a big success for the children of this community
Volunteer Training
We started our second group of volunteer trainees on May 1, 2018. We are also implementing our new updated National CASA curriculum in this training session. We have a great group of excited and dedicated volunteers who we believe will truly make a difference in a child's life. If you have any interest in becoming a volunteer and joining the training session please give our office a call. It is not too late.
Operation Suitcase
We are very excited about our operation suitcase initiative. When a child or children are removed from their families it is sometimes a very hectic and frantic moment in that child's life. Sometimes a parent or child only has a few minutes to gather some of their personal items to take with them to the foster home. Operation Suitcase meets the needs of these children by giving them a new bag that is filled with basic items such as toothbrush, toothpaste, blankets ect. Each suitcase is filled for the specific needs of that child on a case by case basis. Contact us to learn more.
