Achondroplasia is a hereditary condition in which the growth of long bones by ossification of cartilage is retarded, resulting in very short limbs. This disease can affect any one when your born. Also can be pasted on by your parents.
Chromosomes 4 is the chromosome that is affected by achondroplasia. This chromosome controls the growth in any organism
- It is one of the most common of all skeletal dysplasias
- Achondroplasia is the most common type of dwarfism, affecting up to 80% of all little people.
- Most Achondroplastics are double jointed.
