A Peek Inside the Week - Dec. 9th, 2022
A Note from Your Principals
Mr. Kenyon and I read each and every progress report so we can celebrate all the growth and accomplishments that have occurred in the first trimester. We are like the proud "co-parents" of our 503 children!
We believe it's important that the students themselves have an opportunity to reflect on all they've learned, how they've grown, and have the chance to applaud their own progress and that of their peers.
As a result, prior to Winter Break students will be invited to participate in a school-wide "Celebration Walk". Over the coming days they'll be prompted to reflect on all they've learned and identify the learning they're most proud of. They'll use this to create a poster that they'll then, with their class, walk around the school sharing (in a parade of sorts!), to be recognized and acknowledged by their peers and teachers.
You can help generate excitement and their reflection skills by sharing some of the strengths and "glows" that their teacher shared with you. You might also ask questions like:
- When were you at your best this school year?
- How have you changed since September?
- As a reader/writer/mathematician...what are you most proud of?
- What is the most important thing you learned?
- In what area do you feel you've improved the most?
We'll use our "Celebration Walk" as a springboard for some goal-setting in early 2023!
Crazy 8's After School Math Club (Grades K-2)
South Windsor Public Schools is excited to announce an after school Crazy 8s Math Club for the 2022-2023 school year. This club will be free of charge to all grades K-2 participants. We will be using Crazy 8s materials that offer fun, unique, high-energy math activities that appeal to all kids. The purpose of this club is to show students that math is in the world all around them, and that it is fun! Each week the club will explore a topic (some topics you might explore: Neon Geometry, Bouncy Dice Explosion, and Spy Training) and then learn about the math that explains the ideas.
We will be offering two separate 8 week sessions occurring throughout the school year. Each session will offer the same activities so students should only sign up for 1 session (not both).
The two sessions at Eli Terry will be held on Tuesday afternoons for Kindergarten through 2nd grade students.
Session 1- Starting January 10th- March 7th
Session 2- March 28th- May 23rd (no club during the week of April 10th)
The club will run for 1 hour immediately after dismissal once a week. Pick up will be at 4:45 p.m. Our families who reside in South Windsor are responsible for transportation home. Students will be entered into a lottery to determine enrollment in the requested section.
Please click the follow link to register your child: Crazy 8s Club Registration.
Registration will be open until Wednesday 12/14. The lottery selection will take place at the end of the week.

Preschool Outreach Program (POP)
To date, we have received 89 "shout outs".
I know it can be easy to lose sight of all the people that we appreciate, especially during the busy (and sometimes chaotic!) holiday season, but this is exactly the time of year where gratitude is SO important!
Share your gratitude for ANY member of our Eli Terry community using this quick Google Form! Your shoutout will be shared on our morning announcements, through a "shout out" card, and/or on the PTO Facebook page!
