MARK YOUR CALENDARS - Early Release Day - Fri., Oct. 11th
All GIA scholars will eat a sack lunch in their classroom prior to dismissal.
Scholars in grades K-4 will begin dismissing at 11:30 a.m. If scholars have a sibling in grades 5-8, they will be able to wait in the classroom until 12 p.m., which is the dismissal time for grades 5-8. We are asking all parents who are picking up scholars in grades 5-8 to arrive no earlier than noon. Please demonstrate courtesy as the period from 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. is for grades K-4 dismissal only. Anyone who arrives prior to noon to pick up an Upper Academy scholar will only delay the dismissal process for Lower Schools and may be asked to circle the building. Again, we are asking that parents of scholars in grades 5-8 arrive at school between the time-frame of 12 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Global Tech Academy will provide after-school care from 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm for its regular program participants. Drop-in services are permitted that day for families who pay in advance, please speak with the managers at Global Tech Academy for more information.
Parent/teacher conferences will begin once dismissal is completed.
Please be on the lookout for a communication regarding appointments for parent/teacher conferences from your Dean of Students (Mr. Lovett and/or Ms. Rice) later this week.

The Science Machine is coming back to GIA!!!!
*************Scholars in grades K-3*************
The Science Machine is coming to GIA on Monday, October 7th.
Please purchase your scholar's $3 ticket by Friday, October 4th.
Please do NOT PARK on Sidewalks or Curbs on Custer Ave.
Improperly parked vehicles impede the ability of pedestrians to walk on the sidewalks. Improperly parked vehicles also impede the ability of drivers to see oncoming traffic as they attempt to enter Custer Avenue from the school's driveways. These are serious safety concerns for our community and families.
We understand the challenges our school faces in terms of limited parking and traffic congestion. We implore you to please leave home early enough to SAFELY navigate traffic and congestion at our beloved school.
Please be advised that improperly parked vehicles will be subject to ticketing, booting and/or towing at the vehicle owner's expense.

This Week's Title I Tidbit
We believe GIA scholars are more likely to succeed academically if their families are involved in their education. Research studies have found that parental involvement is more important to scholar success, at every grade level, than family income or education.
GIA is committed to increasing the academic achievement of each scholar. We want our parents to know they are welcome at GIA and that we really listen to their voices.
We want to collaborate with parents to ensure that their scholars have a supportive learning environment at school and at home.
Please feel free to attend an upcoming Title I Parent Meeting to hear from us and share your input for how we can best utilize and improve teaching and learning for our scholars.
