PTA Reflections Arts Program
The Lowell PTA will once again be sponsoring the 2016-2017 National PTA's Reflections program, a cornerstone arts program that encourages students to explore their arts and talents to express themselves. This year's theme is "What is your Story?" Submissions can be in the form of the following: Photography, Visual Arts, Literature, Dance Choreography, Film Production, or Music Composition. Submissions are due to Lowell on October 21st. Look for a flyer to come home with your child in the coming weeks.
We are also seeking volunteers to assist with administrating the program.
If you are interested in helping or have any questions, please contact the Reflections chair, Jeannie Iseman, at jeannie.iseman@gmail.com, or 630.440.1115.
Box Tops Deadline Approaching!
It’s time! We’re nearing our first of two Box Tops submission dates. Please send any Box Tops you have at home in with your child by Oct. 24. We only receive credit for Box Tops that have not expired, so please send any that you have in now before they expire! Send them in a baggie or envelope with your child’s name or teacher’s name. Whether you have 5 or 50, we will take them! We receive $.10 for every Box Top and they add up quickly. Thank you so much for your help!
For anyone interested in helping out, we’re meeting Sunday, Oct. 23 from 3-5 pm. Count some Box Tops and enjoy some drinks and snacks! If interested, email Becky Graziano at beckygraziano@mac.com or Becky Sindelar at bsindelar@gmail.com for more details. Thanks!
Planning your child's Halloween costume?
We kindly ask that children and adult visitors and volunteers avoid scary or gory costumes. Likewise, accessories that are weapons will not be permitted. Please use discretion in sending other accessories, as we wouldn't want anything to be left behind! Masks that obstruct vision must be lifted for the parade. Adult visitors should keep their faces uncovered.
Further, although there have been no substantiated reports of viable threats to any schools, included those of District 200, and while the "Scary Clown fear" appears to be simply a social media phenomenon, we believe that it is prudent to ask parents not to send children to school in any clown costumes for Halloween this year.
Tentative parade times on October 31st are 9:30 a.m. for morning Kindergarten & 2 p.m. for all other students. Please note that pets are not permitted on school grounds during the parade.
Do you have outgrown, gently used Halloween costumes?
Do you drive your children to school? Help keep our kids safe!
Please remember the following:
- The car lane is a no idle zone.
- Students can only enter Door #16 if they are being dropped off by car. Cars should not stop traffic by playground and enter another door.
- Students should exit on the curb side (passenger side).
We thank you for your attention to this as we focus on student safety!
