This week, we celebrate Veteran’s Day. Several Veterans visited classrooms to read to children. Students and staff came together for a brief ceremony on Thursday to honor and thank Veterans from our community. Students in grades 3 and 4 sang for our guests and students in grade 4 prepared a slide show featuring National Monuments, National Parks, and Veterans in our community.

Virtual Backpack - Roll out in January
Melrose Public Schools will soon offer families the convenience of receiving flyers and notices electronically through Virtual Backpack. The Virtual Backpack can be found on the homepage of the Melrose Public Schools website and the homepage of each school in the district. More importantly, families can subscribe to receive notifications via email when information is added to Virtual Backpack.

The use of Virtual Backpack will begin on January 2, 2020. You must sign up for each type of notice you wish to receive as they are distributed separately by school staff.
ELECTION DAY HOT LUNCH & BAKE SALE
Thank you to everyone who helped shop, bake or volunteer! We exceeded our goal and raised $1,306!! There were also lots of compliments about the donated chilis, curries, and baked goods. Good work, Lions!
CIVILITY DAY
Thursday, November 21st is Civility Day. Our Lincoln lunch room staff will have special menu available for lunch orders, and children will be able to order or bring their lunch like any other day. To make it special, children are welcome (not required) to wear their best attire to celebrate the occasion. Fifth Graders will be helping the younger grades at lunch. Volunteers will give the cafeteria a boost and the kids can enjoy their lunch with extra special place settings.

HOLIDAY SHOP
The Annual Holiday Shop is a festive activity at Lincoln School! This year’s Holiday Shop will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 8am – 2pm. During this time, the children will have the opportunity to shop with their classmates and purchase $2 holiday gifts for families, friends, even pets! Donations of self adhesive gift tags and gift bags are needed, as well as many volunteers to help set up the Shop the evening of December 5 and help students select gifts on Friday, December 6. New this year — please help us pre-wrap gifts on November 18 and 19.
