Board puts supplemental levy on Tuesday, March 10 ballot
Earlier this month, the Board of Trustees approved placing a $4.1 million supplemental levy on the March 10 ballot. Supplemental levies are limited to just two years and then must be renewed or replaced in order to continue. We're fortunate in Caldwell that our Board has refinanced and paid off debt, which has allowed us to drop the amount of property taxes collected for bonds, and it will allow for an increase in the supplemental levy without increasing the overall tax burden. We have more information on our website and the video above.
We are grateful to the Caldwell patrons for supporting a supplemental levy for schools for 50 years.
Please mark your calendar and plan on voting on March 10.
Time to connect for Parent Teacher Conferences Feb. 10-14!
We're looking forward to Parent Teacher Conferences the week of February 10 through February 14. It's a great opportunity to connect with teachers about your student(s)' progress. The schedule is posted online on the district's website.
State satisfaction survey coming to your email inbox in February
As part of the state's accountability system for schools, each year parents are given an opportunity to answer questions about their child's school. This information is then shared on a state "Report Card." Survey results are also provided to schools and districts to guide their improvement efforts.
Because the state is sponsoring this survey, our schools are dropping a different survey we ask parents to take.
We encourage you to look for the state survey in your email inbox and take a few minutes to complete it. We will also survey students and staff as part of this accountability measure.
CHS robotics team continues to excel
CHS debate speech and debate team competes
On Jan. 24-25, the CHS Speech and Debate team went to Mountain View High School to participate in the "Running with the Bulls" invitational speech and debate tournament. Eliza Farrell and Kaylee Johnson advanced to the Championship Round of Dramatic Interpretations; Eliza finished fourth and Kaylee took first. She was also the number one (#1) overall ranked speaker for the entire tournament.
Syringa competed in Future City contest
Congrats to our advanced 7th and 8th science students who represented Syringa Middle School at January's Future City engineering competition! These citizen scholars spent a Saturday showing off their knowledge of futuristic water filtration techniques to judges from all over the Treasure Valley. A special shout out to 5th period for taking home the award for best construction techniques on their model! Learn more about the event in this report.
