Sunday Message
10/24/2021
It is going to be a wet and rainy start to our week! If there are breaks in the weather, we will do our best to get the kids outside.
Twelve Bridges Elementary is committed to supporting the social-emotional well-being of our students. Our school district has the same goal and has purchased a new toolkit called PurposeFull People. Every three to four weeks, TBE will be focusing on a new character trait with lessons that help our students build positive habits and gain a better understanding of their emotions. At the bottom of this message, there are two letters about our current trait, perseverance. Included in the letters are ways you can help develop and support these traits at home, including conversation starters, additional readings, and activities that can be done with your family. More information about the PurposeFull People program can be found here.
Looking forward to a great week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Middleton

With our Harvest Festival coming up in less than 3 weeks, we are requesting YOUR HELP to make it a success! We are so happy to be able to host this event once again and are hoping to work together to create an AMAZING event for our kids!! We know this community is full of generous and talented people, so we are asking for any and all help you can provide!
We are seeking generators to use for powering string lights. Do you have access to portable outdoor lights or connections to someone who might have such equipment? Do you have access to anything else that would make our festival extra special? Let us know!
Seeking donations of any harvest decor you have or are willing to purchase: pumpkins, cornstalks, mums, scarecrows, etc!
Are you CRAFTY? Please consider creating a "welcome" banner, "kiddie corner" banner, or whatever you can think of! Wreaths to use as decoration, bows/ribbons to tie cornstalks and decorate the school would also be amazing. All fall decor welcome. Anything you can think of to make the space festive! Your imagination is the limit!

ART TO REMEMBER
This semester, our school is participating in a unique fundraising program with Art to Remember that gives you the opportunity to purchase keepsake items with your child's artwork on them. The best part is that every keepsake order supports our school. Last week your child brought home a flyer with a unique online ordering code. Just head to ArtToRemember.com and search for your child’s name, enter their online order code, or upload artwork from home and start shopping! Please contact Miss Tara at artwithmstara@gmail.com with any questions.
FREE COVID TESTING AT WPUSD TESTING SITES
Beginning immediately WPUSD will be partnering with USA Medical to offer free PCR COVID testing for students who qualify for modified quarantine and need an option to test for COVID. Families can, of course, use their own medical provider or another testing service to meet the modified quarantine testing requirements. Both Antigen and PCR tests meet the testing requirements. Nasal swab testing option is the only one available.
We will be providing this testing at several district sites each week and at different times, following the schedule below:

IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
If you need to report your student's absence you need to contact our attendance clerk, Maritza, with the reason for their absence. There are several ways to do this that are the most efficient ways: email: Mpisik@wpusd.org with your student's name and reason for absence (if they are sick you need to let us know what their symptoms are and for how long they have had them), respond to the email attendance alert via Parent Square OR the TBE app, or you can call the attendance message line directly at 916-434-5210. We have a very busy front office so if you could report your absence one of the ways above it would greatly help free up the phone lines for those needing to call. It's always a good idea to send a quick email to the teachers as well so they are aware of the absence.
For those students who are out sick: if they are going to be absent more than 2-3 days due to illness, please let us know so we can have you sign a "Travel Study" so the teacher can give them their class work so they don't get behind while they are absent.
GARDEN CLUB & GARDEN DOCENTS WANTED!
Second Sundays Gardening Club & Garden Docents
- This year Twelve Bridges Elementary will be starting a "Second Sundays" Gardening club that will meet on the second Sunday of each month. All TBE families and students are encouraged to attend. The next meeting of the Gardening Club will be November 14th from 8AM - 12PM.
- We are also looking for Garden Docents for each classroom this year! Docents will be "adopting" the garden area outside of a classroom and coordinating with the classroom teacher in order to include student participation in the garden! Please contact the PTC at tbeptc@gmail.com if you are interested in being a Garden Docent.

ROAR Store Volunteers Needed!
ROAR Store Volunteers Needed!
The PTC is seeking volunteers to work at our ROAR Store on Fridays from 11AM-1PM. Two volunteers are needed each Friday in order for the store to open. If you are interested in helping, please sign up on the sign-up genius link here.
The ROAR Store is open during the K-5 lunch periods and gives the students the opportunity to "purchase" FUN items by turning in the ROAR cards they're earned from their teachers and staff. ROAR cards are distributed when a student exhibits positive traits such as being:
R - Responsible
O - Offering Kindness
A - Always being Safe
R - Resolving Problems
