Prekindergarten News

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to officially welcome you to our class for the 2013-2014 school year! I am very excited to be collaborating with you and your child, on our prekindergarten adventure! Here you will find the monthly newsletter for our classroom, which will be updated periodically every month. Please read the following pages carefully for it will help support you in the upcoming year.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. The quickest way to contact me is through email. Please allow 72 hours for a response. Thank you.

A few things that you can help with your child’s success in this class is to:

  • Read to and with your child everyday, if possible. The more exposure to language, the more efficient your child will become in that area. Also the easier it will be to consolidate those skills to their reading and writing.
  • Check folders, daily. Take at least 10 minutes out of your day to review daily folders. You will need to initial.

Important Dates:

  • 8th - Early Dismissial
  • 27th - 29th - Thanksgiving Holidays

This month we will be working on rhyming words. We will be exploring many Mother Goose rhymes. Also, please use your Sight Words to help demonstrate rhyming words.

Students will be learn to recognize one digit numerals, 0-9. Please practice counting and recognizing these numbers with your child at home, if possible.

Currently we are working on life cycles of organisms. We will be doing a in-class project with a lifecycle of a butterfly.

Stay tuned for pictures of our project next month!

Social Studies

This week we will discuss the roles and responsibilities of community workers.

Meet our pet fish, Dory!

Hello Dory!

Dory is a Beta fish, that our classroom adopted a week ago. Currently, we are trying to decide if we should allow Dory to have a friend in her home. Beta fish tend to not get along well with other fishes.

Classroom Volunteers Needed!

Parents, we are still looking for classroom volunteers to sign up! If you would like to be a classroom volunteer, please contact me no later than November the 17th.
