A note from Mrs. Miller
Thank you to everyone for helping to make our dismissal a safer place. The transition to a car line has been fabulous!
Next week, we will be having our first Curriculum Night for parents. Our goal is to help keep you informed on what we are working on at school and easy strategies for you to help your children at home. Look for a note to come home with your child on Thursday with more information.
This is also the time of year when we are doing middle of the year assessments with mClass and NWEA. I love this time of year because we get the data that proves that our children are growing! Several people have asked if we are continuing our "20 Together", and we absolutely are! Research tells us that the best way to help your child with their education at home is to read! Reading is the foundation of all subject areas. Remember that reading with your child counts too.
Thank you all for all you do to help make Cooks a safe, caring place to learn!
Dream. Learn. Achieve.
PTO News from Mrs. Cheuk
The Cooks Corners PTO is starting off 2016 stronger than ever! The Art Appreciation program is up and running and we have the Are YOU Smarter than a 5th Grader? Trivia Night and Riley Children’s Hospital Caring and Sharing Week to look forward to in February.
There are many more significant volunteer opportunities for parents and guardians of Cooks Corners students in which to participate before this school year is over. Your student will be bringing home a Spring Parent Volunteer Form for Cooks Corners PTO on bright orange paper this week. Please review the list of committees and their descriptions and check any committees in which you are interested in being a member. If you have questions, contact Amy Cheuk at 548-7309 or email@example.com. If you completed this form in the fall ,your information is still current and you do not need to fill out the form again.
Volunteering for the Cooks Corners PTO isn’t just about giving your time and energy to the school but it is also a great opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills and get to know your child’s teachers!
Help Porter Regional Hospital Shine
We are calling out to students to help Porter Regional Hospital shine with their art!
Porter Regional Hospital would like children in the community to illustrate what it is that they love about their community.
Students will draw a picture depicting what they love about their community ( 8 1/2 x 11 copy paper). The pictures will be submitted to Porter Regional Hospital for judging. The winner selected will have his/her picture represented as a mural in Porter’s Pediatric Room in the Emergency Department at their 2000 Roosevelt Road location.
If interested, have your child draw a picture and hand it into Mrs. Gathmann in the art room by Wednesday, Jan. 26. Make sure first and last names are written on the back.
