WHO’S IDEA IS YOUR THEORY: William Ouchi
WHAT IS THE PREMISE OF YOUR THEORY (WHAT DOES IT SAY): Theory Z is an approach to management based upon a combination of American and Japanese management philosophies and characterized by, among other things, long-term job security, consensual decision making, slow evaluation and promotion procedures, and individual responsibility within a group context.
WHAT IS THE MANAGERS PERSPECTIVE: managers believes that employees should learn the business through the various departments, come through the ranks slowly, and that the company will get the best benefits from that employee.
WHAT IS THE EMPLOYEE PERSPECTIVE: workers are involved in the work process on the factory floor.
IS IT CENTRALIZED OR DECENTRALIZED: Decentralized
PROS: Employees feel more respected and important because they can do there part in the company and be rewarded.
CONS: Once the rewards stop flowing to the employees the level of performance will drop.
