Information from the GT Department
Updated GT Information for 1st -4th Grade Students
Katy ISD students in grades 1-4 can now be referred for screening for the 2018-2019 gifted and talented program. Parents must complete a Parent Checklist which can be obtained from www.kdechallenge.org/screening.
The deadline for completing and returning the Parent Checklist is December 6, 2017. Late checklists will not be accepted. The State of Texas requires that various types of measures be used to identify students for gifted programs which includes observations and standardized tests. The program for elementary students consists of a one-day pullout in the Challenge classroom with a teacher trained in gifted education.
Transfer students who were screened in Fall 2017 must wait one full academic year before they can be rescreened.
For more information regarding GT screening please view the district information session at: https://youtu.be/oSkk6jopPJo

We are going to host a Davidson Elementary Family Movie Night to see the new movie Wonder on Thursday, December 7th. Many of our students are reading or have already read the book Wonder by R. J. Palacio. Let’s all get together (students, parents and staff) to enjoy a fun night at the movies. The location will be AMC Katy Mills and the time of the movie is to be determined. You can order your tickets and choose your seats online at https://www.amctheatres.com/movie-theatres/houston/amc-katy-mills-20. Below is a synopsis of the movie. Spread the word and I hope you all can make this fun family night!
Wonder:
Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie Pullman becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to discover their compassion and acceptance, Auggie's extraordinary journey will unite them and prove you can't blend in when you were born to stand out.
Cast:
Julia Roberts, Jacob Tremblay, Owen Wilson, Mandy Patinkin, Daveed Diggs, Noah Jupe, Bryce Gheisar, Izabela Vidovic, Danielle Rose Russell, Millie Davis, Elle McKinnon, Sonia Braga

Arrival To School
We ask that students arrive to campus between 8:00 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. Because there is no adult supervision before 8:00 a.m. students may not arrive before that time. The morning car rider drop off is one lane, please do not go around cars in front of you to drop off. If you need to come into the building during arrival please use the crosswalk where a staff member will stop traffic for you to safely cross with your child. Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we work together to ensure the safety of our Dragons.
