I Can Count by 2's
...And Tie My Shoes
Learn how to count numbers two at a time!
When you first learn how to count, you start with zero and take it one number at a time. (0,1,2,3,4...) Today we are going to count staring with the number 2!
Let's give it a try!
To get started it may help to look at a number line. With the numberline in front of you, point at the number 2. Say this number out loud. Next move your finger to the number that is 2 more than the number two. Your finger should be on the number 4! If you wish, you can continue this process until you make it down the number line.
Think about it another way!
Take a hand full of beans, or another bunch of a small object, and lay they out in front of you. Think about the beans like they are kids on a playground, they like to play together in pairs. Take the beans and pair them off. Take two beans from the pile and set them aside. Do this until all the beans have a partner. Count the pairs of beans you have starting with the number 2. If you get stuck, you can look at your numberline for help.
