Who Is Affected?
Boys are three times more likely to get ADHD than girls
- 5-8% of school-age kids have ADHD
Signs and Symptoms
Some of the signs and symptoms of ADHD are:
Fidgety with hands or feet
Moves around in seat
When they are supposed to stay seated they have a hard time
Too much talking and runs around and climbs on things
Hard doing fun things
Answering a question before supposed to
Has a hard time waiting for their turn and often interrupts people
Always moving around
Treatment
- Drugs should only be used as a last resort and some of them are Ritalin, Concerta and Methylin
- Environment can affect sleep routine and home and classroom behavior
- Psychotherapy - learn to deal with emotions
- Therapy Intervention - learn to deal with people around them and events.. such as being better organized
Connection
I chose ADHD as my topic because I have it. I wanted to learn how people get it and if it will ever get better. I know other other people with it, but I never knew that there were three subtypes of ADHD.
