Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder


ADHD means Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It is when you have a high level of activity, difficulty concentrating, and poor impulse control.

  • This includes the brain, spinal cord, sensory organs, and all of the nerves in our body

  • This controls all of our body and how the parts communicate

  • The brain and spinal cord help us process information and make decisions

Who Is Affected?

  • Boys are three times more likely to get ADHD than girls

  • 5-8% of school-age kids have ADHD

Signs and Symptoms

Some of the signs and symptoms of ADHD are:

  • Fidgety with hands or feet

  • Moves around in seat

  • When they are supposed to stay seated they have a hard time

  • Too much talking and runs around and climbs on things

  • Hard doing fun things

  • Answering a question before supposed to

  • Has a hard time waiting for their turn and often interrupts people

  • Always moving around


  • Drugs should only be used as a last resort and some of them are Ritalin, Concerta and Methylin
  • Environment can affect sleep routine and home and classroom behavior
  • Psychotherapy - learn to deal with emotions
  • Therapy Intervention - learn to deal with people around them and events.. such as being better organized


I chose ADHD as my topic because I have it. I wanted to learn how people get it and if it will ever get better. I know other other people with it, but I never knew that there were three subtypes of ADHD.
