Kinder Cubs Newsletter

Week Twenty-Four: February 14 - February 18

Hello Kinder Families!

Happy Valentine's Day! We are so excited to celebrate love and kindness during our Valentine's Day party today--thank you to all of our class parents for organizing and to all of you for supporting us!

Weekly Learning Objectives

Math:

Students will identify three-dimensional solids, including cylinders, cubes, and cuboids in the real world.

ELA:

Students will isolate medial sounds.

High Frequency Words:

cut, must, said, when

Writing:

Students will list, speak, read, write, and think using multiple texts--writing process. The student uses the writing process recursively to compose multiple texts that are legible and uses appropriate conventions.

Science:

Students will use their learning to independently observe, graph, and analyze patterns of change in both weather and objects in the sky to build an understanding of interactions in our solar system, and how they affect us.

SLA:

Identify and use geographic resources that help you determine locations, including maps and globes. Identify the physical characteristics of a place, such as landforms, bodies of water, planet resources, and climate. Use spatial terms, including above, below, near, far, left, and right, to describe a relative location. Edit drafts with the assistance of an adult using the common conventions of the Spanish language in complete sentences. Describe personal connections to a variety of information sources.

Last but not least, we want to reinforce our mantra of the power of play. Kindergarten is a time of great academic development. It is also a time when children form and solidify connections with their peers, develop social skills, and strengthen their ability to communicate their observations and thoughts. Play is an integral part of our day, as it nurtures social and emotional development.

Updated list--please print out to practice at home!

Toys

The Kindergarten Team asks that students refrain from bringing in outside toys, cards, or large stuffed animals. We appreciate your support!

Snack, Water & Extra Masks

Please send your child in with a water bottle and a snack in a separate container/ziploc/etc. As we are all acclimating to the classroom, separating snack from lunch will make these times easier. We appreciate your help!

We would also appreciate if you could send in extra masks for your child. Every class has spare masks just in case too!
