Principal's Message
I don’t know about you but I’m excited for this long weekend! We all deserve a much needed rest. Please take some time to rejuvenate and do something for YOU over the holiday weekend. Once we return on September 8th, our new schedules start. Admin will be on deck to help support as scholars and families adjust. Just reach out in your grade level Slack channel if you need us. Have a Happy Labor Day!

General Academic Deliverables
All group times and participating students for our post-Labor Day schedule must be posted so we are prepared for success Tuesday Morning. Please ensure your labels for classes includes the following information: LIVE, Content, Small Group Number, Time, Teacher name.
- Example: LIVE ELA Small Group 2 (9:00-9:50) - Ms. Benson
- Habits of Discussion: New Push: When a scholar gives a correct answer and all scholars agree, neutrally ask at least one more scholar “why they agree” or “how do they know?”
- **Continued Push**: We know that students may still be slow to unmute which may affect pacing. Please start your groups with all students off mute; mute students as needed if there is excessive background noise. We know some teachers have already begun implementing this - keep it up!
Progress Reports: Please ensure all grades are into Illuminate by Tuesday, September 15th at 8 A.M. We want to ensure that all grades are in before Progress Reports go out so that families get a full picture of where their scholar is performing.

Dean of SEL
Thanks for all your hard work this week! The SEL lesson that is posted this week is about differentiating big problems and small problems. Some of you have requested that lesson, and I think it is a good reminder for the distance learning situation. Please continue to keep using the Rokicki Scheduling Link if you would like me to attend your morning meeting! This will be our last week of Put First Things First, and then we will change to a new habit next week! Love you all!
Habit of the Month: Put First Things First!
Work first, play later.
Figure out what your “big rocks” are!
Prioritize your “big rocks”.
Create a schedule for yourself to maximize the time you have for all the small rocks that you have!

Teacher Spotlight
Core Value - Achievement
Lauren McKenzie is such an incredible addition to our East End Prep family as she is a true example of the core value of ACHIEVEMENT. You would never know it is Lauren’s first-year teacher when you visit her virtual classroom because she is constantly asking for and immediately implementing feedback to take her instruction from good to better! She is also such a light and true example of professionalism as she approaches every person with respect and kindness and every problem with a solution. She is not only such a hard-worker, but also just a true gem of a human and we are so glad we get to welcome her with open arms!
