A Month in Review

The start of school has certainly been busy. We had our first enrichment at school with many more offered off campus. Riffa T. and Micheal F. put on a great Global Solutions Workshop. Ria is currently working on our next cultural event. Stay tuned for a date, time, and theme.

The GIS Coordinators and Committee Chairs have create their committees and have started planning for an awesome Global Issues Summit in April.

Looking Forward

  • We are currently in the process of creating and scheduling field trips for the year for all classes. Juniors will travel to the Asia Society on October 25th for an amazing field trip.
  • Council Members will be conducting the Academy Open House on October 22nd at Travis High School. Look for a volunteer signup shortly.
  • Academy T-Shirts order forms will be given out this week for purchase. This shirt is required for all field trips and volunteering events. See the picture below.
  • Academy Spirit Shirt order forms will be given out this week for purchase as well. This shirt is not required, but would be a great way to show our spirit on Fridays. See the picture below.

Form and payment due no later than October 15th, 2018

Mrs. Chadwick will be in the cafeteria (at the Counselors Corner) during all lunches on October 8th, 10th, and 15th. You can also drop off payment with Mrs. Chadwick before first period outside the counselor suite October 9th-15th.

Peer Tutoring Opportunity

Are you interested in getting some tutoring during lunch twice a month??? Are you interested in getting some volunteer hours peer tutoring during lunch twice a month???? If you answered yes to either of these questions, please fill out this form so that I can get something set up.

Isabella M.'s Philanthropic Summer

Isabella had a very busy summer participating in the Asia Societies Young Leadership Institute dealing with an Indian program dealing with philanthropic initiatives and social investments in India. She finished off the summer volunteering with Project C.U.R.E helping pack containers sending life saving medical supplies to Armenia.

Ruchika was recognized with a Letter of Commendation for her SAT scores. :)

GSA Annual Lock-In

Friday, Oct. 19th, 9pm-5am

Richmond, TX

Come out and enjoy some fun with your fellow academy students. Jump on an inflatable, watch a great movie from the 80's, play a vintage video game, eat some good food, and just hang out. Go to the GSA Booster Club website to purchase tickets.

All forms, including guest forms, must be turned in to Mrs. Chadwick by October 18th. No forms or payment will be taken at the door.
