Language Arts-This Week's Skills

Comprehension Skill: Author's Purpose - Why did the author write the story?

Comprehension Strategy: Analyze Text Structure - Authors of nonfiction want to share information with their readers.

Phonics: final blends

Spelling Words: land, sand, fast, past, sink, sing, left, twist

Dictation: At camp we will play in the sand. He can sing with the band.

Grammar: Sentences will end with a period, exclamation mark, or question mark.

High frequency words: help, now, use, very

Robust Vocabulary: admire, offer, charity, challenging, focus

Eureka Math

We will continue focusing on the unknown number as well as the "commutative property of addition," if 3 + 8 = 11, then 8 + 3 = 11.

Supplemental materials will be used as needed.

Please see parent information below that references Module 1, Topic C. This will be covered later in the week. Once "Solving the unknown number" is learned, it can be applied to a variety of story problems.
