What a Week!!!
I currently have multiple kiddos in quarantine. Just a reminder that every day I put a google meet link on their google classroom page. Please have them use that to join the class. I realize that the nature of my classroom is a little more difficult to join in with but we do make every possible accommodation so that the students can enjoy as much as they can. They can join the entire time or just to check in and see what we are up to.
Elementary kids were back in action this week! We did the Contactless Halloween Candy Dispensers and learned a new game from Japan called Gomoku. The kids all created monsters using 3 random words. wardrobe, bandage, and decoy. They had to use one word for the name, one word for their strength, and one word for their weakness. Then they had to draw what their monster looks like and create a story for Flipgrid.
Middle School kids took a swing at EXIT games. It is basically an escape room in a box and it really makes their brain sweat!! They have to use clues, cards, puzzles, stories, etc to try and figure out how to escape the scenario or solve the crime at the end of 60 minutes.
In the Stock Market Game we learned about bull markets and bear markets. Students are continuing to spend their money and trying to decide when is the best time to buy and when is the best time to sell. They are really struggling with what to spend their money on!

Resources and Opportunities
I am also sharing the registration for GAMS online conference this year. GAM is Missouri's Gifted Association and they have a conference every year that is open to educators and parents. It does cost but they have a ton of great resources and sessions. Regular classroom teachers, I would suggest you going sometimes as well because it would provide strategies for you to use in the classroom and some background knowledge as to how gifted students tick!
The second link is to a free event through the GIfted Speaker Series. This talk will focus on ways to help gifted and twice-exceptional students develop executive functioning skills such as organization, self-advocacy, communication, and goal-setting. There will be a time for questions at the end.
Last, DESE is offering GIfted and Talented Tuesdays which is a free ZOOM each week for a wide variety of people and things, but there is a section for students and it is space-themed this quarter.
