HAPPY FALL!!!
Our school year has gotten off to a great start. We've had time to get to know our new classroom teachers, made new friends, and enjoyed the gorgeous weather.
As we move into fall, our year will become busier and we have lots of opportunities to families to be involved. Field trips, class parties, and family night just to name a few. I hope to see your faces over the next few weeks!
Please make sure to check our newsletters, ClassDojo, and our school Facebook page for important dates and information. We don't want you to miss out.
As always, please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year.

Reading Success Plans
Missouri statue Section 167.645, RsMo (SB681) requires all school districts to conduct a foundational reading assessment as well as a dyslexia screener annually. The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has approved iReady as a Missouri Foundational Reading Assessment and dyslexia screening tool.
Missouri's Foundational Reading Assessment helps identify students who may have some reading difficulties. Students are assessed in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension using iReady. The results of the assessment will help identify students who are in need of a Reading Success Plan (RSP).
If students are identified as at risk or having substantial reading deficits, a Reading Success Plan will be created to identify areas to improve in. This is a detailed plan on how we will support students in the area of reading in the classroom and/or reading intervention groups. Once identified, teachers can provide instructional support targeted to student needs, monitor student progress, and adjust instruction as needed.

Drop Off/Pick Up Reminders
Morning Drop-off:
Students will only be allowed to be dropped off in front of the DIS building between 7:30-8:00 a.m. Teachers are not in their classrooms until 7:30, so no students will be allowed in the building before then. The weather will be getting colder, please do not drop students off early so they have to sit outside in cold temperatures until the doors open.
If students are dropped off after 8:00, the front doors will be closed and they will have to ring the buzzer to be let in. We will sign them in at the office before they can go to class. We ask that parents do not walk their students inside.
Afternoon Pick-up:
The Parent pick-up line will begin at 3:15. Parents who have a child only in DIS are asked to line up in front of the DIS building on the right hand side. Parents who have a child in both DIS and DMS are asked to please line up on the left hand side.
Pick up will start at 3:25 p.m. Teachers are assigned to walk students to their vehicle. We ask that parents/guardians please remain inside your vehicle.
If you are consistently late to pick your child up, consider having them ride a bus home in the afternoon.
