October Newsletter #cmspride
From the Principal...
Time has quickly flown by since the first day of school on August 14! There are many things that are taking place at CMS. 5th graders participated in STARBASE during the first 5 weeks of school and now DARE has started with Officer Thoman for 6th grade students. October is a busy month as we will have picture day on October 3th, the cross country run on October 5th, the behavior party at the Plaza on the 12th, fall break, and parent-teacher conferences. Each day I see a lot of great things taking place in the classrooms of CMS! Looking forward to an active and fun October! Thanks for your support!

Annual Cross Country Run
The Concordia Middle School Cross Country Run will be held on Friday, October 5th (rain date October 8th). The Cross Country Run is a one-mile run that will be held at the City Park across from the Middle School.
During the race, students will be assigned to a designated area to cheer on their classmates. Parents, family and friends are invited to attend and cheer on their child(ren), however, for safety reasons students need to stay in their designated areas and keep the running course clear. Students are not allowed on the playground during the event!
Students will be able to use the water fountain in the park for drinks, they can also bring a water bottle.
The CMS Cross Country Run has become an annual event. Top 10 finishers in each category will get ribbons. On the back is the record for each category.
The running will go as followed but may run a few minutes earlier or later than scheduled:
5th grade girls – 1:30
5th grade boys – 1:50
6th grade girls – 2:10
6th grade boys – 2:30
The CMS staff and I would like to see you there cheering on your child(ren) as he/she crosses the “finish line”. Students are able to leave with parents after ALL races have been completed. Parents must sign their student out in the Middle School office prior to leaving - students will need to return inside to obtain their book bags & homework.
