Navigating the End of the School Year
Year after year, parents often ask, “how can I help my student finish the school year strong?” With the weather getting warmer, students are ready for summer to be here. Here are some tips to help those students finish out the school year:
Schedule down time. Yes, that’s right. Students need time away from school work. A few hours each week can really help them stay focused and be ready for the coming week.
Use a calendar. It can really help to plan out the remaining assignments and tests so you know what is coming.
Eat healthy. I know, I know. Sometimes the healthy stuff doesn’t taste so good. But, there are ways to increase the taste factor (for example, use seasonings). Try it.
Get active. Even if it’s just walking around the block, exercise gets your blood flowing and muscles moving. Each of these help move those important neurotransmitters around the body.
Get good sleep. Teens need anywhere from 10-12 hours of sleep. Now I know that’s not very realistic for most, but try to get as much as possible. Your brain needs the break.
