Principal News
Hi Spry Families,
We hope everyone had a great week. One reminder about parent pick-up and drop-off. PLEASE do not drop-off in the morning, or pick-up in the afternoon, on Sanford Street or in the front District lot. This creates a safety issue with students crossing the parking lot and then possibly onto Sanford Street. Also, please enter the main pick-up lot and pull around in line to pick-up or drop-off your student. We know it gets congested some days, but this also helps in avoiding any accidents with cars trying to enter into the line from the side. We are doing our best to provide a safe area for our students and staff as school starts and ends each day. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
Please check out the information in the newsletter below.
Take care,
Jim Baehr

After School Intramurals
Spry Middle School
Intramurals Winter 2021
Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.
Intramurals has been very well. It is great to see students participating in activities in the gym after school. Students having been doing a great job in filling out the form in order to participate. We have not had to limit any student who has signed up, since we have had limited students needing the bus, as well as we have utilized both gyms and weight room to follow the guidelines of social distancing. We will continue to monitor if we need to reduce the number of students signing up.
Students will need to sign up on a Google Form. The students will stay after school , in the gym, until around 4:10. At that time they will be allowed to walk home, get picked up by a parent, or take a late bus home.
Any student is allowed to sign up. Students received a sign up form on their Grade Level Google Classroom, for February intramurals.

The Importance of Sleep & Staying Connected
We are finally in spring - a time of growth and renewal. This can be impacted by the ups and downs of change - whether that be COVID, schedules, activities or our upstate weather. One of the things that can help us stay well physically and emotionally is getting the right amount and type of rest. This applies to kids and adults. For teens, the recommended amount of sleep needed is 8-10 hours (CDC Guidelines). The other important factor to stay resilient, no matter what the changes are in our lives, is to maintain/make connections with each other. Relationships are the strongest protective factor we have in our toolbox. Please visit the links below for sleep tips and ideas on how to stay connected.

Spry Chromebook Assistance
Students may come down Periods 1,4,5,6 to Sam Bell in Tech room 120.
Chromebook policy prohibits loaners being given to students who forget their Chromebooks at home or do not charge the battery. Loaners are provided for students whose Chromebook is physically damaged, lost or not functioning properly. For those students with dead batteries, there are several chargers on site for their use, but they have to leave their Chromebook for at least two class periods to charge.

Early Dismissal
• If you need to leave school early, an email (Preferably) from your parent or guardian must be sent to your house office prior to first period. Notes are still allowed, but discouraged to avoid crowding in the House Offices to start the day. You will be given a formal "school excuse" to leave, and your parent must sign you out at the front entrance.
• If you return to school, you must report back to the front entrance and get a pass to class.
• Only the School Nurse can excuse a student early from school due to illness. Students leaving school because of illness must be picked up from the Main Entrance by a parent or guardian.
• No one is allowed to leave during the school day without signing “out”. Any pupil leaving without permission will be considered truant. Parents and Police will be notified.
• Transportation to and from school is provided by school bus, parent, or guardian listed in Infinite Campus ONLY.
