Counseling Update

It's hard to believe we are already 3 months into the school year! I have spent much of that time getting to know students, teachers and many parents as well. I have also started some of our classroom lessons and small groups. The topics being covered in those lessons include Zones of Regulation for grades K-3 Students are learning to identify a range of emotions and find healthy coping skills - or tools - to help them manage their emotions and get back to the green zone where they are calm, focused and ready to learn. In grades 4-6 we have been talking about Resilience in difficult times and especially in the face of bullying. You can find more about these and other topics on the CCE Counseling Website. Through the end of the year we will continue to talk about coping skills and introduce various lessons on Empathy at every grade level. A great book for parents and educators is "UnSelfie: Why Empathic Kids Succeed in Our All-About-Me World" by Michele Borba.

It's that time of year when you can nominate staff at CCE who have made a difference for your children!! We hope you'll take just a few minutes to do so!! We have so many outstanding people at CCE!!! You can nominate teachers and support staff!!

The volunteers do not need prior experience and willy will undergo a 20 minute training and practice session with hearing team members at the beginning of their volunteer shift prior to working with the students.

Because of the technical nature of the screening procedures, it is requested that volunteers not bring children with them, and that they be able to come promptly for training at the requested time. Able to volunteer? Send Lisa White an email to sign up.
