Your task list of the week
- Please add S. Glass to one of your online courses. (whether you are using Google Classroom/Schoology) Each Technology Applications teachers should have all of their students in an online platform. I don't need to be added to every section you teach but please add me as a teacher to at least one section of each Tech Apps course you are teaching. This is for coaching and any assistance you may need. Thank you to those who have done this!
- Have you signed up for a club yet? Most campuses have (2) Technology Apps teachers. Please make sure at least one teacher is sponsoring a club/ that you know the teacher on your campus that is going to sponsor if neither tech apps teachers are.
- Materials. We will need each of you to come and pick up your materials. They are coming in and are unfortunately too much to deliver. This could be delivered by Central Receiving (district) but they may take a few additional weeks. Pick up can begin on Friday, Sept. 13th and Monday, Sept. 16th. All principals are being notified today.

Updates for Intro to Computer Science
- All students journals/notebooks should be set up.
- The digital citizenship and graph paper programming lessons should be complete and should have been a success!
TIPS: Make sure that you hide the entire course in code.org EXCEPT the lessons you want students to see. This will prevent students from breezing through the curriculum.
Also, remember that every online lesson should start with the unplugged lesson. This curriculum is intended to be blended.
- Include vocabulary daily and make sure that students are recording their reflections in their journals or in the online classroom.
Update for Intro to Programming
- All students journals/notebooks should be set up.
- Digital citizenship should have begin your lessons and students should be rockin' their Fantasy Projects. Please allow students to create ACTUAL projects with recycled materials. They can bring in their own materials.
Remember: students should not yet be on the microbit.makecode website. When you do go live-- they will not set up or sign into Makecode as it is Microsoft. Their work will automatically save as log as they are on Chromebooks or use Chrome on the Desktops.

Update for Fundamentals of Computer Science

- Digital citizenship and the problem-solving process should be rocking. All classes should be wrapping up Unit 1.

ATTENTION Teachers of Fundamentals of CS!!!
As you are preparing to introduce Unit 2-- please discuss with your students the Congressional App Challenge. We are needed at least 1 student per campus to sign up to participate.
As students are brainstorming their apps, PLEASE make sure they understand that the app they design may have an opportunity to be showcased NATIONALLY!
This have come directly from our Congressional Representatives here in Aldine, Sylvia R. Garcia and Sheila Jackson Lee.

The deadline for students to submit will be October 30th (our district deadline).
Updates for Digital Design and Media

- Students should be working on Digital Citizenship Lesson.

Professional Development Opportunities
Professional Development Workshop for DDM Teachers ONLY!
If you and a group of 3-4 students attend, you will have access to more equipment with the added benefit of your kids can start on their film for the Aldine Film Festival.
NOTE: This is a PAID workshop. DDM Teachers that attend will receive compensation.
Also, we have some equipment to drop off to you that your principals have approved. They should be dropped off this week or next.
