September 2022

Dear Frontier Valley Families,

We want to thank all of you for attending our recent “Back to School Night”! It is great to see your support and see our students’ showcasing what they have learned and experienced at FVE over the first few weeks of school.

Our school theme this year is roaming with pride, and we have so many things that we are proud of at Frontier Valley. One of our points of pride is Mr. Maurice’s student safety patrol. Maurice has his student safety team set for this year, and you might notice some of these students wearing bright yellow vests in the morning during arrival. The main goal for our student safety patrol is for them to be a positive ambassador for our school. We are excited that our students want to help with creating a positive and safe environment at Frontier Valley. If you see one of our safety greeters in the morning, please give them a big thank you for their service!

Our school has been invited to participate in the Legend High School Homecoming parade! The parade will take place on Wednesday, September 21st starting at 5:00pm. The route starts in the lower student parking lot at Legend High School and ends in the parking lot at Cimarron Middle School. We are excited to participate this year, and will be inviting all of our 5th grade students that would like to walk with Blaze the Buffalo in the parade to represent our wonderful school. More information and details for our 5th grade parade participants will come through classroom news. All students in grades kindergarten through 4th are invited to line the parade route to cheer the parade participants on! This is a wonderful community event for our entire feeder. We hope to see you there!

Your proud principal,

Regular attendance is an important ingredient in a student’s overall school success. We monitor students’ attendance carefully and will contact parents if a pattern of frequent absence (10 or more days), 5 unexcused absences or consistent tardiness exist. Please call the 24-hour attendance line at 303-387-8477 or use the attendance LINK to report all absences/tardies.

Children arriving at school after 8:35 am will be marked tardy and must sign in at the office before going to class.

  • School attendance is mandatory for students between the age of 6 and 17

  • Initially, all absences are unexcused until verified.

  • Decision on when to take action is at the discretion of the administration.

  • Leaving During the School Day

If your child must leave school early due to special circumstances such as a doctor appointment, you must come to the office to sign him/her out. Parents may call ahead to have their child pulled from class, but we ask that you call when you are no more than a few minutes away. Please bring a photo ID with you when checking your child out of school.

Although we LOVE our pets, please remember that dogs are not allowed on campus (with the exception of service animals). If your leashed dog accompanies you to FVE, we ask that you please keep your pet on the perimeter of school grounds. This would be the fence line on Canterberry Trail or tree line on the field. This is a DCSD policy for all schools.

Our main goal at arrival and dismissal is to create a safe and orderly process. If your family utilizes the moving car loop, please remain in your car during drop off and pick up. Drivers should close the gaps, and move all the way to the bottom of the car loading zone so that we can get kids to their respective cars efficiently. If you would rather park and meet your child, please utilize Canterberry Trail along the fence line, or park in the main lot. Please do not park in the moving car rider lane, or in close proximity of our crosswalks. We want to ensure that all of our buffaloes get to their designated pick up location safely. Thank you for being courteous drivers near FVE.
